Told you guys.

Every time the media writes a negative story about Albert, he goes apeshit in the following game.

Teams are going to offer more than $200M, I bet.

kcpasco 10-22-2011 10:17 PM

That's a winner mang.

ARod got a 10 year/275M deal in 2007 at the age of 32. Is there any reason to think Pujols will get much less than that from some team? Doesn't he deserve it?

You called it, someone needs to bitch he had 2 singles tonight.

Pujols deserves to get paid like he's the best player in baseball. Pay the man St. Louis and stop being so stingy with your payroll. AJ merchandise alone will pay for his contract.

I thought last offseason someone might give him $300 million. Who knows now. I'd much rather have Pujols than A-Rod. Somebody out there is going to open up the wallet I think.

Look, being the highest paid player is what he wants. Getting $40MM over 5 years accomplishes that and he can retire being the only guy.

Total $ isn't the only objective.

I don't know who could afford to pay him that much, considering the Yankees and Red Sox already have high priced 1st basemen.

And the Cubs have a ridiculous amount of cash tied up in guys like Soriano, Dempster, Zambrano, etc.

Angels, maybe?

It's an incredible pipedream, but I'd love the rich Rogers empire to just throw all their money that they've supposedly been saying at him this offseason and make him a Blue Jay. Think about a lineup with Bautista AND Pujols? Amazing.

Some other owner will (Cubs? I certainly ****ing hope not), though, if the Cards don't.

Nobody can afford to pony up that much $, period.

Make it a shorter ridiculous $ per year deal and it will happen.

All he wants it is to be the highest paid guy. You can do that for 5 years and he can retire.

The Jays are apparently considering spending $125M on the Japanese pitcher Yu Darvish this offseason. If they're going to spend that much on a virtual unknown (I thought MLB teams had learned by now not to trust pitchers from the NPB, but I guess not), they might as well bid on one of the greatest players in history in Pujols.

Chiefaholic 10-22-2011 10:37 PM

Why is it that the Cards can't afford him? Can you seriously tell me that asses in the seats and merchandise sales wouldn't give them a return for their investment?
