No one can outsuck the Asstros. They really are that bad. They have like 5 road wins all year, heh.

i saw that the first base coach was dismissed.

was there an actual reasoning to this. one that i missed on here. what's the justification of firing a first base coach? obviously i'm late to the party, but is our gm completely incompetant? (i already know the answer to this, just want to know the "official press release of the firing").

thanks in advance.

Didn't the astros beat KC this year?

*EDIT* ok we took 2/3 from them, I just checked. For some reason I thought we lost that series....maybe I'm thinking of the Pirates.

The Pirates kicked our face in. But they would also be in the playoffs if they started today.

It really is odd seeing the Buccos play this well. McCutchen is ridiculous and AJ Burnett was a damn good signing for them. They have a pretty solid pen as well.

It's yet another example over the last few years of a team with a similar payroll to the Royals having success.

A's have a 49 million dollar payroll.

Moore should be ashamed.

Mr. Laz 08-05-2012 10:45 AM

this offseason dump 40 million per into 2 top notch starting pitchers

#1 FA
#2 FA
#3 Chen

next year we are competing for the playoffs.

i just don't think that Glass will spend it

There are numerous examples of this the last several years. Sure I wish Glass would spend some more money too, I wish he'd spend $200 million a year and give us a super team but that's not feasible. Before they gutted the team to bring up the young guys they were spending 75-85 million a year on payroll. And that was while also spending record amounts in the draft and Latin America. But now the payroll has been chipped down to bring up Hosmer and Moose and everyone else playing on a rookie contract, we've devolved back into that cheap argument. It's partially BS... we just spend money on guys like Jose Guillen. Meanwhile other teams like Colorado, Oakland, Tampa, Pittsburgh, Milwaukee are at least making a run here and there spending the same amount of money the Royals do.

this. Chen has finally hit that point where he is no longer serviceable.

Royals can no longer spend "big" on the draft, and thus there's no excuse for our payroll to be anything less than middle of the pack since we're not setting records in L.A.

"Big" because our total costs, while more than anyone else, were not exponentially greater. Several million dollars. Chump change in MLB terms.

Seriously, I would be willing to bet that if Glass pushed up payroll and made the team competitive, the increased revenue would offset the cost if not generate a higher margin (Let alone potential post-season revenue.) There is no reason not to go get the two best free agent starting pitchers on the market this offseason.
