Exactly HOW is that unfair?

Jesus, some of you guys have some serious university penis envy going on.

What were the other 5 schools suppossed to do? Stay and turn down better deals out of kindness?

I think the only thing that I'm angry about it is not getting to play CU in football and both NU and CU in basketball every year.

The general bitching is about the Big 12 universe revolving around Texas. That's why Nebraska left.

Mr. Laz 06-15-2010 05:26 PM

Yea ... cuz finding out your university is a pathetic, worthless barnacle on the Texas football ship is something to be happy about.

Apparently the only reason why MU,KSU,KU,ISU have football programs is so that they can be potholes on the Texas highway and collect money to fund other sports.

You know how KU schedules Fort Hays State in basketball every year? They do it for an easy win and to give Fort Hays some added revenue. It's freaking athletic charity.

guess what ... KU/KSU/ISU = Fort Hays state in football

Hey!! Guess what MU? In a decision that EVERYONE said was all based on money and t.v. market etc. The Big 10 took a lesser t.v. market and less money by going with Nebraska over MU because you guys are pathetic on a national level.

Welcome to being a barnacle on the ass of the athletic world along with ISU/KU/KSU/Baylor.

grab some Texas cock and take a big swig ... get used to the taste.

So far, I've got: Texas earning a little more money. (we lose out on about half million or so if they were split evenly, compared to an athletic budget of $70M for kansas) Also, the big 12 football championship game is in Dallas forever, except... we are doing away with that game.

What else is the evil Texas empire doing to us?

Watch what happens with the Big 12 BB tournament.

alnorth 06-15-2010 05:29 PM

oh, by the way, Basketball isn't split evenly. Each school basically gets what they can negotiate, and KU rakes in a ton on national TV games. We seem to accept that as fine, but want football revenue split evenly. Cant have it both ways, for KU it might be a wash at best if it was all split evenly. Only schools like KSU and ISU would benefit.

Mr. Laz 06-15-2010 05:35 PM

Mr. Beebe the people of Kansas city are thankful that Texas allowed us to keep the Big 12 together /Kevin Kietzman

dude is going to have to wipe that texas jizz off his chin

For the record, I'm a Michigan fan.. but to answer your post...

Get better at football and academics and this fails to be an issue. Texas does have an unfair advantage in recruiting and funds but that didn't stop KState from having a great program during Snyder's first stint...

I seem to recall this same situation existing in the Big8 but the big bad guy was Nebraska... the same Nebraska that became a second class citizen in the Big 12 and now will be one in the Big 10.

LMAO. LMAO.

Yeah, that played a role in Nebraska's invite. FTR, Nebraska isn't a turd, but this university ranks behind KU and MU.

Beebe disputes new TV deals for Big 12

Perhaps the biggest news coming out commissioner Dan Beebe's press conference this afternoon -- other than the fact that Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri, Baylor and Iowa State are officially the rest of the Big 12's biznatches -- is the fact that there is no new television in place for the Big 12.

In the wake of Texas recommitting to the league Monday, multiple reports had a tweaked television deal paying Texas upwards of $25 million -- and other schools at least doubling what they've been receiving -- as the linchpin in keeping the Big 12 intact.

Beebe said earlier today that there is no new TV deal from either FOX or ESPN/ABC; rather, the conference was assured -- with those assurances being relayed to all ten schools -- by various "consultants that we are in a tremendous position to reach agreements to put us on par with anyone in the country." Additionally, there is no signed agreement that will keep the conference together. Instead, Beebe is taking them all at their word that they will remain true to the conference.

(About that Arizona oceanfront property, Mr. Beebe...)

Beebe also attempted to dispel the notion that UT held all of the cards in this situation.

"Texas has a lot of influence," he said. "But I think you have to also look at Texas A&M and Oklahoma. They were hotly pursued by a number of conferences. Their value, based on their marketplace, history, were desirable. Frankly, they could have left for a guaranteed situation.

"One of the misnomers is this all about money. They are committed to this conference for more reasons than that."

(Chuckle)

As for the five schools mentioned in the opening of this post? All five agreed to give up their share of penalties Colorado and Nebraska will have to pay, forking that money over instead to, mostly, Texas, Oklahoma and Texas A&M.

Oh yeah, we can see this newly-configured Big 12 having long-term viability. Yep.

So what their saying is that any penalty money that Nebraska and Colorado has to pay is going to be paid only to Texas, Oklahoma and aTm. What kind of fucked up deal is that? :spock:

oh no, I agree with you there... I was speaking in regards to Texas and Pac-10 schools... The Nebraska invite was obviously all about football.

Nebraska is a fine school but NOT elite in academics by any measure.

It's a fair one... if those schools had left (as they intended) there would be NO penalty money paid to anyone. So, in a bid to get them to stay.. the 5 "homeless" schools agreed to give up that money... that they would never have seen anyway.
