That's not vampires - it's just Nebraska, slowly sapping him of his will to live.

oh no, I agree with you there... I was speaking in regards to Texas and Pac-10 schools... The Nebraska invite was obviously all about football.

Nebraska is a fine school but NOT elite in academics by any measure.

I hear you, man, and Texas is a great school. But even the Pac-10 expansion has nothing to do with academics.

If Texas went, the Pac-10 was going to take Texas Tech and OSU. Both are ****ing jokes.

Without Texas, the Pac-10 is likely going to take Utah. Again, a joke.

Utah a joke as in what? The football and basketball teams are solid.

You get a better perspective on this when you don't live in Missouri anymore. Nebraska is a name people recognize and associate with football, even if they have no idea where the **** Nebraska is or will ever go there. Nebraska means football to people who don't know any better. Doesn't matter the they haven't been a contender for years. Nebraska = Football!

That's how they beat us - the ignorance of the general population. Stupid people have TVs and buy cars and McDonald's and viagra and shitty beer and will watch what they've been conditioned to watch.

Yeah, people are generally pretty oblivious, which is why a MLB player like Derek Jeter could miss the first half of the season and still be voted to the All Star game, or how apparently some guy in SC won an election because he was the first name on the ballot.... but that doesn't really have anything to do with Missouri and Nebraska, unless you think they should have only compared 2007 and 2008. Nebraska is a great fit for the Big 10, and details revenue that ranks in the top 20 of the country & those 3 NCs in the mid-90s & the BCS bowls in the last 10 years certainly doesn't hurt.

Academics. He's talking about academic standards in relation to conference expansion; or lack thereof.

According to Forbes magazine Nebraska is ranked 4th in revenue.

Alden does not expect the conference’s name to change. “Big 12. Big 12,” he said. “It’s a great brand and we’re going to keep moving with that.”
I don't know, if you can get an OK from Marvel Comics, I kinda like:

The X Men Conference

You know, because X is the Roman numeral for 10.

Or, or, or The Big Square Root of 100 Conference....

OK, I'll shut up now. :doh!:

Buehler445 06-15-2010 06:49 PM

OK, so was there a resolution to this nonsense?
