ESPN and the SEC just announced a 21 year extension of their media-rights agreement. Slive is on the podium as we speak and has announced the formation of an SEC Network.
|
45 football games, 75 baseball; over 1,000 live sporting events (450 televised, 550 digital).
No money announced yet, but holy shit this network sounds amazing. |

100 basketball games.
3 football games/wk. How !@#$ing awesome is that? I'll just send DirecTV a blank check; they can just put a number on it. |

ESPN deal with SEC to 2034 isn’t only the longest deal in sports. It’s the longest deal in all of TV. |
No more PPV football games for SEC squads....sweet.
I would like to thank the rest of you DirecTV subscribers for subsidizing those games for me. That'll be nice. |
What everyone wants to know: what's the money per school?
|
|
They aren't going to announce ownership structure or financial details today.
I have no idea what that means. |

It's going to cost DirecTV a shitload, but I'd imagine they'll put it in their tier 2 sports package and it'll get included for a slight increase in your monthly bill. That'll make them a hell of a lot more money than charging everyone that actually wants it $5/mo. |
