Agreed. He looked like a much older Roger Clemens tonight

Ok I'll retract my comment here: Even Ned couldn't possibly bypass Ventura in a wild card game. It's not possible. He couldn't possibly justify any other decision to his team. They'd revolt if Ventura wasn't the choice. He's a freak.

I don't know. Duffy has been dominant this year too. I would not revolt if Duffy was on the mound in a Wild Card game.

Cubs Trade Jeff Samardzija And Jason Hammel To Best Team In Baseball

Quote:

The Cubs and Athletics have reportedly worked out a deal that would send Samardzija and fellow starter Jason Hammel to the A's for three prospects: shortstop Addison Russell, pitcher Dan Straily, and outfielder Billy McKinney. Russell and McKinney are the centerpieces for the Cubs. They were the top two rated prospects in the Oakland system and Russell is considered one of the best prospects in all baseball. Baseball America had him ranked 14th overall and Keith Law ranked him third overall in his Top 100. McKinney was Oakland's top pick in the most recent draft, taken 24th overall.

just saw this - ouch.

but good that it's a division leader, and not a wild-card candidate (and not in the central division).

We did trade one of the best prospects in baseball for two years of a starting pitcher. To be fair the Royals have probably "went for it" as much as any team in baseball these last two years, it just didn't happen during the season.

I was referring to this season (and our lack of tradable talent to bring in a piece to help them this season), but your point is still valid.

He seems to unstable. I'd worry about him imploding in a big game where Ventura seems like the higher floor in a big game.

As of right now, I'd go;

Vargas
Ventura
Duffy
Shields
Guthrie

Maybe. Just a lot of factors to consider including who you are playing, who the other team is throwing, where the game is at, the weather conditions... Etc I doubt you want Vargas in LA or Baltimore.

The Royals have more than enough talent to make a smaller move... not David Price or Jeff Samardzija, maybe, but a RF bat who can help? definitely.

Reason the game is on MLB.tv is because FOX has a national window that allows them the right to be the only broadcast in that time slot.
