Perfect recipe for a .500 team. |

Detroit only won 88 games last year, and Verlander isn't close to the same pitcher, their bullpen has holes, their defense isn't great, and their only elite elite offensive player is basically Cabrera. There's nothing saying Hosmer and Butler and Gordon couldn't have big second halves either. Detroit's certainly the favorite though, no doubt. I hate the idea of giving up, just hate it. I think it's soft. It would fit our culture of losing though.

Speaking of offense, Ibanez has two more homers tonight. Amazing. 24 HR.

Your two most valuable players are Shields and Gordon, and there is no way that I'd trade Taveras for them, because I'm taking on 18 million in salary and Taveras has six years of cost control left. |

Well I don't disagree with that. But still, three days ago this team was one game under .500 and had the best record in baseball over the last month, or whatever that stat was.
Definitely think we need to pull something out of the fire here this weekend though. Going into the break 6 games under .500 would be bad. |

I think that Detroit lacks an elite closer, and they're this piece away from running away and hiding from the division.
The Tigers are 2nd in MLB in runs scored, and 12th in runs allowed (only 20 more runs than the Royals). KC doesn't score enough runs, in my view, to be taken seriously. And I believe we're going to see a staff (with Guthrie relying upon magic and a shit back end of the rotation) start to normalize. This is reality to me, not being soft. |

Salvador Perez and his 3.8 WAR projection aren't worth Taveras alone. Your terrible GM is not a barometer of good trades. The same guy who traded away two years of Greinke's service to Doug Melvin for Alcides Escobar and Lorenzo Cain when Melvin got Jean Segura for two months of Greinke probably shouldn't be judging Wil Myers' value. Your dumbass would kill for Taveras, Wacha, Kolten Wong, and Carlos Martinez. That's not to mention the wave of rookies that have just come up from that farm system: Rosenthal, Siegrist, Matt Adams, and Shelby Miller. Christ, Shelby Miller has been better than any Royals player this year. |
