Also, that gif shows how flexible and cat-like Von already is.

Heh, just watched that movie the other night, so I'm not letting up any time soon :)

I'd like to throw this out there:

Earlier today on the Colin Cowherd show on ESPN radio, they had Adam Schefter on and Colin asked him if Peyton is back to his normal self as far as throwing goes.

Schefter quickly said no. He went on to say that there are "5 or 6 throws that Peyton could make in Indy that he can no longer make"

I thought that was pretty significant.

His arm/nerves may still be returning...same goes for his muscle memory, but at his age and by the physical look of his throwing arm, it may be at the point where "what you see is what you get"

Now, his game has always been more mental that physical...but the guy is a competitor and if his arm is only at 85-90% that is gonna impact a lot of his velocity on normal throws.

Hes never going to return to what he was a couple of years ago. He could make all the throws then, thats what made him so dangerous paired with his tremendous ability to read defenses and get the ball out quickly. Itll be really interesting to see how his games changed and how effective he can be.

I think the drop off will be similar to that of Palmer.

Did you fly to Europe to get stem cell treatment? Did you have the best surgeons in the world performing your surgery? Did you have access to the best rehab money can buy?

Sure, Peyton has probably lost something but it won't be noticeable to you or I. The throws he probably won't be able to make are the ones where he is on the move, throwing across his body 20 yards down the field. Every other throw he will be able to make.

I have watched every Peyton Manning game available on TYT since he signed in Denver. He made plenty of throws semi deep down the field while moving to his left, a lot more than you would think.

BossChief 07-25-2012 09:20 PM

Schefter clearly said 5 or 6 kinds of throws that he can't make anymore.

You don't think Romeo and other vet dcs/hcs will take advantage of that?

It doesn't matter though...we will split the season series.

Like always.

No, he had better treatment. But the problems he has had in rehabbing in spite of having the best treatment available are very similar to the problems I had after my surgery. Nerve damage many times can't be "fixed"

There is nothing Romeo Crennel can throw at Manning that he hasn't seen before or can't beat.

The Chiefs averaged 8.5 ppg against Denver last year. That's not going to cut it with Manning in town.

Go look up the last 5 games Peyton faced a team that had Romeo on it's staff.

Then, compare those games to his other games that year.

Romeo somehow has found ways to cause Peyton to have his worst games against him.

Those were against Indy teams that were totally fluent in the offense and Peyton at 100%.

I look forward to the games.

Should be fun.

No need to cry when you have an owner and front office that recognizes the importance of the QB situation, and commits action and resources through draft and free agency to secure that position.
If Manning works out, great. If not, I know we'll have options.

For all we know he might end up a first ballot HOFer. That's got nothing to do with him being a first day camp rookie.

It's infuriating, but that's why I really learned to worry about what I can control and not worry about the stuff I can't.

Absolutely. The plan of having a legit starting QB and at the same time trying to find your future starting QB through the draft is solid. I've seen Osweiller play in Tempe 4-5 times live. I'm not a 6'8" QB fan but I'm hoping to be convinced.

Agreed. I expect Manning to be the equivalent of an average NFL QB this year, but at least Elway is addressing the most important position on the field while we are in for another year of suckage.

Peyton Manning shows off health to fans

It’s real, Manning is a Denver Bronco. And he looked fantastic.

“He’s as accurate as he’s been in the past and I don’t expect anything less from him,” Denver cornerback Champ Bailey said.

Slowly, the focus is moving away from whether Manning can come back from a neck injury that cost him the entire 2011 season. He has made major strides throughout the offseason. Sunday, there were no signs of a quarterback struggling with his health.

ESPN medical analyst Stephania Bell told me she was impressed by the tempo Manning, 36, led Thursday. It is another sign that Manning is all-in and the team is not holding him back.

“The arm strength was there, his passes were on time,” said ESPN analyst Tom Jackson, who was part of the network’s coverage team. “He was Peyton Manning.”

For Manning, Thursday’s practice was another important step on his way back to the field. Manning remains methodical in his progression, but the idea of finally getting back in action for the first time since January, 2011 spurs him.

“I have missed it, and I’ve never taken it for granted to be out there playing,” Manning said. “I had been playing for 13 years straight and never missed a game since I’ve been playing quarterback in the seventh grade. That’s a lot of consecutive games, a lot of Fridays or Saturdays or Sundays to be playing a game, so I’m glad to be back in more of a normal routine, in a practice routine.”

Quesadilla Joe 07-28-2012 10:24 AM

From yesterdays camp report by Cecil Lammey

... Peyton Manning – Had to move inside to the practice bubble because of the lightning, and Manning put on a show. Any questions about his arm strength were squelched (again) when he overthrew Jason Hill on a ‘9’ route down the left sideline. He is able to get the defense to jump offsides with his commanding cadence, and did a nice job adjusting to what he saw pre-snap. Executed a picture perfect play action pass to Eric Decker. Pass sailed about 45-yards and split two defenders for the TD. Manning’s window was less than the size of a basketball hoop but he put it right in Decker’s hands, splitting Tracy Porter and Quinton Carter. Plenty of zip on his passes to Demaryius Thomas all over the field. Fantastic day from Manning, Thomas, and Decker.

Messier 07-28-2012 10:28 AM

He said Manning seems to be exerting a lot of effort to get the ball down the field, that the strength just isn't there.
