Ya Beltran bunting had better not been on MM. That would be some epic fail.

kcpasco 08-05-2013 07:56 PM

I still dont understand why we are bunting so much. MM acts like this team cant hit.

'Hamas' Jenkins 08-05-2013 07:56 PM

Im not to worried about it. This team always seems to play best when they have to. And im confident that the Pirates will hit a slump or 2 before this season is done.

O.city 08-05-2013 08:43 PM

Lost tonight because we didn't play fundamental baseball

They may tank it this year but count them out at your own peril indeed.

It ain't over till its over

whoman69 08-05-2013 10:11 PM

The Cardinals are playing .500 ball since June 9 when they were 41-22. This is despite the fact they had a 14-4 streak from Jul 1-Jul 25.

Pepe Silvia 08-06-2013 12:03 AM

They've now lost 9 of their last 12, ugh.

Mi_chief_fan 08-06-2013 06:30 AM

Mike Matheny: Michigan Man.

JoeyChuckles 08-06-2013 08:03 AM

I'm not worried for you guys, if that means anything. Looking at the X W-L stat, the Pirates should fall off soon and you will most likely win the division by 5-8 games. As a Royals fan though, I'm scared of your offense, and we don't even have to play you again.

'Hamas' Jenkins 08-06-2013 04:10 PM

For some reason I'm giddy about Nelly Night. Maybe it's just because it reminds me of college.

Read somewhere that if we played .500 after the all star break we would still have 91 wins. That gets us in the playoffs.

We all know that the playoffs are subject to a small sample size issue. However, it's still important to maximize your odds in those situations. Staying out of the WC game helps for two reasons: #1, you likely avoid burning your ace. #2, it's a 55-45 game at best. Moreover, the WC team is at a tremendous disadvantage in the next round with the new rules. It's not insurmountable, but it is measurable.

A worthy playoff team should not play .500 ball over the final four months.

It is inexcusable for a team that was 19 games over two months ago, with the record they had, to not get HFA in the NL playoffs.

'Hamas' Jenkins 08-06-2013 05:27 PM

Oh, and here's a sobering fact:

Mike Matheny has managed 270 games and his Pythag is -11. That's significant.

You should avoid the wild card game at all costs.

Everything on paper said we should lose that game in ATL. We got some lucky breaks but we also played well enough to win.

He's really owned a lot of our hitters. However, he has elevated two-three breaking pitches. Beltran just hit one.

'Hamas' Jenkins 08-06-2013 07:21 PM

****in' Balls. God****, that is just horrible luck.

Clown shoes on Holiday

'Hamas' Jenkins 08-06-2013 07:23 PM

Holliday has had the worst two ABs I've ever seen. Dude, just hold the bat on your shoulder if you're going to swing at that shit. He's completely overmatched.

Beltran singled. Craig worked a 3-2 count, fouled some hittable pitches off, then hit an absolute rocket back at the pitcher that Kershaw caught with a defensive spasm, doubling off Beltran as a result.

Holliday then made a complete ass out of himself at the dish as he always does against any pitcher who throws harder than 90.

'Hamas' Jenkins 08-06-2013 07:26 PM

That was likely our scoring chance for this game as well.

O.city 08-06-2013 07:29 PM

Yeah I saw the dp figured that's what happened

O.city 08-06-2013 07:31 PM

'Hamas' Jenkins 08-06-2013 07:32 PM

Kelly's command is faltering. Walks a punchless ****o and now can't find the plate against Kershaw.

They are, but their 2B and 3B are still a goddamned embarrassment, and would you want Zack Greinke starting a must-win game for you?

'Hamas' Jenkins 08-06-2013 07:43 PM

Just hit a gat damn choppah.

'Hamas' Jenkins 08-06-2013 07:47 PM

I'm really starting to man crush on Joe Kelly. Huge play.

O.city 08-06-2013 07:50 PM

Nice inning, wish carp could have came through

'Hamas' Jenkins 08-06-2013 07:53 PM

Worst route to a ball ever. Holliday, Hancock yourself.

'Hamas' Jenkins 08-06-2013 08:05 PM

****ing Scroate.

'Hamas' Jenkins 08-06-2013 08:13 PM

Gave up a double and three singles and only allowed a single run. Lucky as hell.

I hope Matheny finally learns that Maness should only pitch with a DP situation.

And ****, do I hate Scroate.

Maness is unbelievable in getting a DP. Surely we are way past just luck.

'Hamas' Jenkins 08-06-2013 08:43 PM

It's luck to give up four hits and have the other team score one run. Maness inducing that contact was not luck.

'Hamas' Jenkins 08-06-2013 08:51 PM

You know what playing the game the right way is? Playing it well. Skip didn't play the game the right way, he was a ****ing scrub one who sucks the penis Peter principled into the lineup by LaRussa's dumbass.

Frazod 08-06-2013 09:04 PM

Would be nice to get an insurance run to two here.

Shelby just took a shot off his throwing elbow, second pitch of the game.

Boy, that was a bullet.

He's going to miss a start, or the rest of the season. I don't see much room for an in-between.

I'd hate to see it turn into anything like the shot that Lohse took that effectively robbed him of 2 seasons.

Piss off Jake

He got his grounder.

His manager, being dumb as a sack of hammers, ****ed him over by playing the infield in.

That was a tailor-made DP ball but with Kozma having abandoned the hole to play in, it dribbled through.

Why he had the IF in during the 2nd inning with Nolasco pitching for the Dodgers is beyond me. 1 run shouldn't be winning this game - concede the run and set up the double play.

kcxiv 08-07-2013 07:01 PM

you know yoru pitcher doesnt have it, when he walks Puig. lol

Marcellus 08-07-2013 07:01 PM

Well, this one's got disaster written all over it.

Mi_chief_fan 08-07-2013 07:02 PM

Hate it when the game is over in the 2nd inning; tough one to take, could screw them up for the rest of the season. Westbrook has nothing.
