I saw Sucker Punch this weekend for a buck.
stupidest story line of all time, but it was actually entertaining due to the special effects. hot chicks in britanny spears school girl outfits fighting zombie soldiers and dragons.

Did you get it at one of those movie rental kiosks? We have Red Box in town, I use it frequently. I've been tempted to rent it just for the visuals as the story looks incredibly stupid. I'm wondering about the ratio here. Is the story bad enough to make the special effects not worth it (say, Star Wars new trilogy) or does the style carry the film enough to make up for poor storytelling (say, Watchmen). Basically- was it worth a dollar?

To be clear, I get pissed if I spend even one dollar on a movie without overall entertainment value. I feel like I am helping to finance shitty movies.

The second movie is more "commercial" I guess. It had a bit more of a Hollywood feel to it. Reminded me heavily of a well made Rocky movie. I enjoyed it though. It was well worth the dollar I spent to rent it.

Be forewarned about another movie with the same actor- Donnie Yen. It's called "Legend of the Fist: The Return of Chen Zhen " . It is an homage to Bruce Lee and it is very campy. Sort of like a poorly written Chinese version of Batman. If you like the 70's martial arts movies you might get a kick out of it. It's nowhere near as good as Kill Bill so don't get your hopes up.

Cool. I'll probably grab it when I see it at the local Red Box. Anything in there a 16 year old girl absolutely shouldn't see? Things like rape scenes, male nudity, strong sexual language. My daughter wants to see it badly but I tend to pre-screen every thing that looks questionable.

hmm...no nudity. implied rape, like, it's gonna happen. but doesn't show it. I honestly don't remember if the language is very bad, but I'm thinking it wasn't too bad.
guess I'm gonna have to check out IP Man. reading about it now. never heard of it.

This film has not registered on most peoples radar because it never released in theaters outside of a single festival showing due to problems with the production company going under and domestic distribution rights never being secured after it did. Unthinkable is a violent, intelligent, suspense "mystery" of sorts. How far is too far when it comes to saving millions of lives? Does morality go out the window? Is physical torture and disfigurement acceptable? Are the family/friends of suspects fair game? Great movie.

Watched Unthinkable last night...really solid flick, extremely tense.

IMO Samuel L.'s best performance in quite some time.

Outstanding movie.

watched a documentary called 'Fat, Sick, and Dead' last night. Really enjoyable. Basically abuot a guy who has some minor health issues, and decides to go on a fast for 60 days, consuming nothing but water and juiced vegetables (not Juiced like Barry Bonds 'juiced', but....you know, Juiced).

He's Australian and decides he's going to do this in America; driving across the country during those 60 days.

Anyway; no idea on the accuracy of it all, but it was pretty neat to watch.

That sounds like it would be OK. And yeah, I would strongly recommend Ip Man.

Suckerpunch is WELLLLLLLLLL worth $1. Visually its stunning.

ThaVirus 07-07-2011 01:39 PM

A long time ago I watched Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths. If you're into animated superhero flicks that was a great one. As well as Batman: Under the Red Hood (Those names may be a bit off, I can't remember for sure anymore)

Just got back from Horrible Bosses.

Worth the admission price just With Jennifer Aniston. HOLY SHIT she is sexy in this movie, and she talks dirtier than a pornstar in it. I had to hide my chub the whole movie.

Pretty funny. Jamie foxx was real good in it. Id go see it.

Just took my son to see Thor in 2D for his birthday. Never thought I would say this but it was a hell of a lot better in 3D when my wife and I went last month.

Of course, I might not be saying that had I never viewed it in 3D to begin with.

Nzoner 07-11-2011 05:49 AM
