Really, the more impressive thing to me is he was able to deliver that ball in such a short amount of time out of playaction. I mean, that play was boom, boom, boom, and it was spot on.

People are WAY to fixated on this "1st read" bullshit.
You know how many times a game a QB in the NFL goes to his 2nd read? How many times does he go to his 3rd? Guys don't go through their progressions on EVERY ****ING PLAY. NFL offenses are designed to exploit matchups. Even NFL QBs go to their 1st read more often than ANYWHERE else. |

We've all seen that Barkley throw where he puts his entire body into it and gets it 60 yards with a hump. We've also seen a bunch of touch passes in that 40 yard range from Geno. What I'd love to see is just how well he can sling that ball when he needs to. Can he give you a 60 yarder without needing his whole body and 4 strides. Can he give you a piss-rocket into a seam 30-40 yards downfield. I think he has an elite arm, but I'm extrapolating that from what I can see from his touch passes. He rarely truly muscles up and rockets a throw. In other words - what exactly is his fastball? I've not seen it just yet. |

He had a good drive, but apart from one good drive he was awful. He had those 'Cassel drops' where he was throwing it behind guys or over them and they were getting 'drops' because the passes were not very catchable. Look, Luck is going to be an amazing QB, but lets not act like he never struggles. He had an undeniably bad game on Sunday. He was missing targets all day and it was clear to anyone that wasn't looking to suck him off. |
In Luck's defense he had 5 passes dropped.
That changed the game. That's via PFF, and those were the passes that hit guys right in both hands. They just dropped them because of contact. |
