I was at the game in nwa yesterday, and couldn't recall ohearn. This explains why he had no stats. And if I recall, his homer to rf was a BOMB!!!

So I guess Gore was optioned to AA Northwest Arkansas yesterday. They will make a corresponding move before Friday in Cleveland.

Any guesses as to who they will call up?

I thought I read they were looking at Relief Pitchers. Truly, we lack just about everything right now, so who knows.

Anyone in the system really good at chewing some ass? We could really use that.

Another relief pitcher makes the most sense.

I would guess Fuentes. Maybe give Gordon a few days off.

Noticed Cuthbert hitting 300 with 6 HR's. Love to have that bat but he might be blocked forever here.

Serious question for someone like Duncan...can Cuthbert play 2nd base?

They're about to play 13 straight days, and with Medlen and Young struggling to go past 5, yeah, they're gonna need another arm.

Alexander, who's already on the 40? Or Duensing, who would have to be added to the 40 but also has a May 15 opt-out?

Or someone like Almonte, who could go 2-3 innings in a blowout but wouldn't be getting regular work in that he needs?

I'm not sure I'm someone like Duncan, but ... Cuthbert has played a total of 28 innings there in his minor league career.

I only suggested "someone like Duncan" because his Yes or No answers usually come with a paragraph or two explaining why he answered the way he did. :D

Mellinger: We interrupt your regularly scheduled Royals freakout to provide some perspective

Highlights:

Quote:

“The effort and concentration are there,” first baseman Eric Hosmer said. “We just have to executive [sic] better.”
I disagree. I think there have been too many lapses in concentration.

Quote:

The old Royals had to play great to approach .500. The new Royals can play terribly and still be above .500.
Even last year in a magical season from start to finish, the Royals had their stinker stretches. From May 24 to June 6 they went 2-9, and scored a grand total of 13 runs in those nine losses. That included a sweep at Yankee Stadium -- remember the Memorial Day game when they lost 14-1 when Guthrie gave up 10 home runs in two innings?

They need to keep their heads above water and wait for the White Sox to stop playing .700 ball.

Brevity is the soul of wit.

Longer version: I doubt you would want to turn over full-time ML 2B duties to someone who has so little experience playing it. He could probably play it in a pinch if he were a utility guy.

BTW, I failed to note Cuthbert did play 2 innings at 2B with the Royals last year (26 innings in the minors in 2014).

I thought there was some talk of putting him in the OF, but he's never played there, not even this year yet, so maybe I'm misremembering.

Quoting because it needs to be repeated for those who are getting overly worried.

Winning solves problems and in baseball you usually get to play the next day so losses and bad stretches of play are much more easily forgotten over the course of such a long season.

Not many of these shitheads on our roster are playing well enough to block anyone.
