But I understand why BYU would do it... Utah's leaving and could have a recruiting edge by being in the Pac 10. BYU has a following across the country because of the church. They leave, get more TV money, beef up the schedule... even if they win 8 or 9 games instead of 11... they might end up in a better bowl.

I wonder what Boise State thinks now. They made the right move but it's not going to be the "non-BCS" powerhouse conference it could've been.

I hadn't thought about the religious following. Could it really be that strong? I didn't think Notre Dame was followed across the country because its a christian school.

Boise St must be pissed. They were the the last piece to a ticket to the BCS, now the conference may have just lost that chance.

The Church of Latter Day Saints own the school, so yeah, there's a bit of a religious following.

Now there's reports that Nevada and Fresno State are possibly going to leave the WAC and go to the MWC. They may be ready to let BYU walk. It also may be an issue for BYU in the other WAC sports with so few teams left... so the new theory appears to be maybe BYU would try to go to the West Coast Conference in the other sports so they can play basketball against Gonzaga and St. Mary's.

$10 million isn't that much for a conference. Divided up its only a million each, and I'm sure Tejas would want half.

BYU is too far away but Boise isn't? Fail geography I take it. BYU is the far better option, even better than TCU by a long shot.

Lets add BYU and ND.

BYU and Texas have a game scheduled for next year. Not to mention last years game with Oklahoma. I have heard that BYU is leaving now so next year they can join Big 12.

TCU would boost the football and baseball of the Big 12 but...

No additional TV markets. Not a huge fanbase. And no way the other Texas schools allow them in.

BYU may help out in basketball. I think that they put a team that can compete out on the court. They would be an upgrade over what they would be replacing as far as the number two sport goes. I doubt that any of the schools that aren't in Texas would want them in either.

While the Big 12-2 is good for Kansas in the short term. They really need to be talking under the table w/ the football teams in the Big East about a new conference with or w/out Texas when this shit happens again in 4-5 years.
