When has he proven that he can? He's a ****ing QB.....always has been a QB. Just because he's bigger...doesn't mean that he can step in and take on LBs every down.

didnt watch much Florida ball, eh?

Especially when he first got there and split time with Leak.

What he did was very similar to what a fullback does...he also displayed the ability to be a pretty good short yardage back.

Its not like the kid is a total waste, just as a quarterback he is.

HOUSTON, WE HAVE A PROBLEM

With the Chiefs you never know for sure on the status of contract negotiations. So there’s always the chance that third-round draft choice Justin Houston is sitting in the Ramada Inn right up I-29, waiting for his contract to be finalized.

Or, Houston could be back in Georgia, enjoying the home cooking. His agent, Joel segal has been unwilling to return messages or e-mail. The Chiefs have their lips clamped shut as they always do when it comes to matters of money.

As of lunch time Wednesday, there were only four draft choices across the NFL that had not signed contracts:

•#17 OT Nate Solder by New England.
•#18 T Corey Liuget by San Diego.
•#19 CB Prince amukamara by the New York Giants.
•#70 OLB Justin Houston by the Chiefs.

The holdup for the first rounders is over how many of the contract’s four years will be guaranteed. Everyone above No. 17 got guaranteed money or all four years. With one exception, all those below No. 19 got only three years guaranteed.

What’s up with Houston remains unknown, but it’s almost certainly a dispute over money. That’s hard to believe with the new labor agreement and slotting system. Here are the contract details for the bookend choices around Houston:

•#69 – TE Rob Housler/Arizona, 4-year deal for $2,994,092, with a signing bonus of $684,092.
•#70 – OLB Justin Houston/Chiefs, unsigned.
•#71 – RB DeMarco Murray/Dallas, 4-year deal for $2,973,438, with a signing bonus of $662,500.

Split the difference between Housler and Murray and that should be Houston’s deal.

i misread the post

Gretz claims only 4 are unsigned...I posted info yesterday that several from each round were unsigned....don't know about the discrepency

I never said he didn't run the ball in short yardage situations. Where the **** did he actually block?

I know I'm in the minority, but I am not all that disappointed in our free agency period up until this point.

I don't blame Pioli for not going nuts in free agency and signing every guy that is available. The teams we are trying to emulate don't do it. Steelers, Packers, Ravens, Patriots.

Of those teams the Ravens probably were the most active. Also, the Patriots added guys via trade and in a very smart way. The guys they got were going into the final year of their contract, and probably would not be back with their team next year. So rather than joining the bidding war next offseason, they got them this year for CHEAP.

The only things that disappoint me thus far, are the failure to sign Shaun Smith, though I can respect not wanting to pay him what he's worth. Do that, and you push up the value of your own guys who out perform him and want paid. This way, if they want to stay, they know it will be at a reasonable contract.

The other is not being more aggressive with Le'ron McClain. Though, I can understand that one too. Look at his twitter, he loves pot and strippers/porn stars, and is WAY too vocal and liberal on his twitter account. Not the kind of guy you want around your young locker room at this time. Wait until we have more guys more engrained with the Chiefs philosophy, maybe married with children, and those guys seem like less of a threat to the young talent on this team.

I believe this facepalm should be directed at yourself. It's not exactly peer pressure. It's opportunity. They may not go out of their way to get it, do it, but if it's there, readily available, they might just say "**** it, what's it gonna hurt".

What makes you think an NFL player is any different than any other human being on the face of the earth? Especially a young 22-26 yr. old who probably views it in the glamorous manner that the rap music they listen to portray it to be. Not that it's COOL to do it, but that there really ain't nothin' wrong with it.

Brandon Flowers and Eric Berry already made one big mistake of immaturity that probably won't affect their playing but definitely their image to the public by signing on to do a guest appearance at a porn expo. Obviously not thinking it would be advertised like it was and hoping to get some porn star action.
