I thought they had cheaper options?

They have a completely free option if you pay the $300 construction fee, but it's not very fast.

My neighbor got that option, and coming off of AT&T's offering (with a couple of my old APs), he's pretty happy.

AT&T just started offering Gigapower in my area for roughly Googles price

$70 a month for 1gig internet. Or $120 a month for tv and 1gig internet combined.
Anyone have it?

When we moved we switched from Consolidated (Sure West) to AT&T Gigabit. The Gigabit is really only with LAN not wireless but you probably knew that. The a/c router seems pretty robust with minimal concerns. We ditched cable and are just doing the internet so I can't comment on the TV side of things. The price is what got us to sign up. $70 /mo. for 3 years but only a 1 year agreement. If it seems lacking we will explore options a year from now.

Can you trust AT&T to actually give you a gig? No throttling? Enough bandwidth for all their customers?

This is why the Overland Park council starting dragging their feet. AT&T and TWC were paying them to delay so they could get caught up.

I am in Raytown. We keep seeing google fiber vans everywhere too. Not sure what the hell is going on. I talked to google a few weeks ago and they assured me that I would be "up and running" by the end of September.

This is their one fatal flaw....their cummnication sucks, and they do not keep proper track of what their subcontractors are doing. They don't appear to hold them to any deadlines either.

When I looked into it it was asymmetrical, have they changed that?

I believe it still is, you get 1 gig down, but only 750 MB up. Also, I believe I read somewhere that there are some data caps buried deep down in the fine print, so I would read the terms and conditions carefully.

Giggity. Nearly two years after signing up and paying the deposit, install done today. Time Warner told to shove it.
