Report: NFL, NFLPA work out final details of new CBA
Posted by Mike Florio on August 4, 2011, 12:18 AM EDT AP Though it’s not clear who blinked on the question of whether NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell will retain exclusive control over the league’s personal conduct policy, it’s clear that something happened to push the matter to a resolution. Mike Freeman of CBSSports.com reports that, late Wednesday night, the NFL and the NFLPA worked out the last remaining details of the new CBA. Next up, the NFLPA representatives will explain the terms to players, who’ll vote at camp on Thursday. Once at least 50 percent plus one of the players vote in favor of the deal, everyone will be able to practice as of 4:00 p.m. ET. |
That means we should probably expect 3 or so more signings tomorrow, right?
Guys that are probably on their last legs, but with a gallon or so left in the tank...as teams have to get under the 120 salary cap. |

What's keeping Justin Houston from camp?
August, 3, 2011 Aug 3 7:33 PM ET By Bill Williamson Where is Justin Houston? I’ve been getting that question a lot lately from curious (and perplexed) Kansas City Chiefs’ fans. It’s a fair question. After all, according to the Mr. NFL Detail, John Clayton, there are just four unsigned rookies in this world of the new rookie pay scale. Three are first rounders (including San Diego defensive end Corey Liuget) and Houston. What’s wrong with this picture? I understand that there are a few stragglers in the first round. But the fact that there is a third-round pick among the final four unsigned players, it’s a bit strange. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not placing blame on Houston. But the truth is, he better gets himself to St. Joe and get with the rest of the team. Whether the team is being unfair or Houston is being unreasonable, it doesn’t matter. There is pressure on Houston. Third-round holdouts don’t get much leeway from the team. If Houston misses much more time. He could lose a chance to contribute early in the season. The Georgia product has pass-rushing skills and he has a chance to make an impact. But he has to get on the practice field. I see how there could be a disagreement in the negotiations. Houston was considered a much better prospect than a third rounder. Yet, he had some off-field concerns that made him fall. But in the end, the rookie pay scale is what it is and the Chiefs have an exact amount of its rookie allotment left. Houston is going to eventually have to take it. So, he might as well accept the deal now and move on and try to make an impact. Third-round picks really don’t have any other choice. |
I'd be cool with sign signing Snelling still and letting Jones go.

that's what I don't get he doesn't have any leeway, especially with the pay scale so what the hell is he doing?

I said it a few days ago and again today, I think he is Pioli ordered rehab.
That is my educated guess. |

@SI_PeterKing
Peter King One interesting asterisk to new league year: Teams do not have to be under $120.375m cap till Friday at 4 pm looks like some value could hit the market as late as Fri. afternoon. |
@AdamSchefterAdam Schefter
Seven teams are over cap and will have to be under by Friday: STL $100K: ATL $1 MIL: DAL $3 M; DET $8 M; HST $8.5 M; PIT $11M; OAK $12M. |
talent is leaving Oakland left and right and they will still have to cut guys or restructure contracts probably for stupid deals that will haunt them for the next couple years
