Prague would be a nice place to spend a week.

My wife's uncle, who has plenty of $ to buy virtually anything he could ever want, got dental implants in Mexico to save a few dollars.

Not too long after spent significantly more than he would have in the US after they became severely infected and had to have his jaw reconstructed.

I would rather take my chances here vs an oral surgeon setup in an office next to a donkey show.

And that is fine do what you are comfortable with. Also depends on the other country all that but this idea that American healthcare is far and away the best is a myth.

Hell no, I wouldn't go anywhere away from home for an ACL surgery. I just had mine done a year ago (and meniscus) and you are in pretty bad shape the first week after it. Plus, you start physical therapy about a day or two after the surgery which is just as important as the surgery itself. No idea if the technology they use in Costa Rica is the same as here, but mine you can't even find any scars a year after the surgery.

You’re a moron on this topic, per usual.

Costa Rica chose to implement a cheap and effective community health program. Read a different long read on this a while ago.

Turns out focusing on heath and not profits works. Crazy idea!!

The only moron here is you and we all Belize it.

You going to Fantasy Island after Costa Rica?

If Fantasy Island had been a real place, I figure that not a single episode would have been fit for mainstream television.

This is debated amongst orthopedic surgeons to my understanding.

The cadaver ACL repair has shown to fail more often especially in younger individuals.

For those who have had an ACL repaired… can you tell me what I might be in for?

Long story short… I have no medical insurance and a torn ligament in my knee. Looking around and I find that I can get my ACL repaired AND stay a week in an all inclusive resort in Costa Rica for about 35% of the cost of doing it here in the US.

Even less in the Dominican Republic.

I’m leaning towards Costa Rica because they have world class medical centers there though vs in the DR where they are working with equipment from the 80s and 90s.

I'm an ACL. Military deal, not fully torn/severed, just "stretched", so all they did was take off some "floating" meniscus (because the ACL wasn't totally torn) and called it good.

What they had me do was build my hamstring strength instead of rip it all out. That was in the 80s so ACL surgery has come a long way, but I know this, the hamstrings are very key to knee stability.

I don’t know much about where you go to have this done, but from what I’ve read in this thread, the main thing is PT.
Rest and let it heal, then start flexing the joint and building up the muscles.

I did use this shock wrap thing around my upper thigh and quad that I hated, but I think really helped in the long run.

Just be careful on the way home, she got COVID on the flight back and it really complicated her recovery.

Saved $100,000 on a $7,500 surgey. I've got some ocean front property in Arizona for sale, you interested???
