Well, good luck Reerun. Tear the shit up and get momma a chushy bank account.

Things are tough right now. I've definitely been swallowing some shit this year that I wouldn't have in the past. I hate to say "happy to have a job", but there is some truth in it.

the network end is full of dweebs. Creativity, design, development are completely different.

Yeah, hardware sucks.

Everyone I hear who says they hate IT is a Network Admin or on the networking side... or at least supports hardware in one way or another.

While I'm not a "it's a hardware problem" type of person, I couldn't do it all the time... I did it for a couple of years and that was enough.

I heard McDonald's is hiring.

nlm Hardware. I hate dealing with hardware.

Reerun, I think the key to job satisfaction in this situation is to pretend that the network stuff is a critical avionics box and you're over the Pacific dropping at 500 feet per minute, and you have to get the avionics box working within 40 minutes or you're going to die.

good luck :thumb:

The problem with IT is that your superiors sometimes may not understand how hard it is to get some stuff done. They ask for unrealistic deadlines and unrealistic goals and expect you to get it done.

I work as a full time programmer and it's sucking the life out of me.

Does that mean I hate my job. Not really, sometimes I like that it provides variety for me. Different challenges, different issues to deal with. It's economy proof as well.

Good luck. It's better than many jobs out there. Trust me.

After awhile it grates on you...

The people I work with, none and I mean none whatsoever has any interest in Football or Basketball. I can live with that because some like to talk about other issues that I have some interest in (history, politics, etc) or else I would shoot myself.

No way they're gonna give me a phone with no texting capabilities and they keep track of everything you do with it. I have a feeling they're upset because I use my personal phone for work and they can't track my txts which is what I'm left with for entertainment since they're now monitoring Inet usage.

Then there's the geeks. Only one "grab a beer" person and she's a sorority type female. I'm trying to inch my way out of IT as well. Must get things worked out in order to do so but the micromanaging is slowly taking me there.

How can you make it throughout the day without internet?

Saulbadguy 10-22-2009 09:41 PM

No complaints here...

I'm glad I'm not in IT. Sounds like most people hate it.

It would be a great job if it wasn't for all of the other people.
