I don't like a lot of things, but that doesn't make me a bigot. It's called a preference or opinion.

If a guy doesn't want gays on his team, it means his preference is not to have gays on his team. Eventually, society straightens this shit out, but in the meantime people get their thong in a knot too severely about I think.

People hate on religious people FAR MORE than gays, and aren't lambasted for it nearly as much.

This is patently false. The whole argument. So if I don't like black people eating in the same restaurant as me, that's NOT bigotry, that's just a preference? Good luck with that. As for people hating on religious people, that would also be wrong. But we don't see a lot of 'no Christians allowed' signs do we? Name one instance in your whole life where a religious person was treated with this sort of institutionalized intolerance and I'll give you rep. Oh wait, never mind... Muslims are getting pretty rude welcome these days by the same kinds of bigots who don't want gays anywhere near them.

Now, if he had only said that he thought the idea of two dudes together was kinda gross, I wouldn't call that bigotry. That would be a preference, but saying that he wouldn't want them on the team at all is where he crosses the line. I wouldn't want to have sex with a 280 lb woman, but I wouldn't want someone fired from their job for being 280lbs or for having a 280lb wife. That's the difference between preference and bigotry. Learn it. Further, you can say that anybody's religion or politics or philosophy is dumb. But you if you go further and don't allow Catholics or Liberals into your place of business, you're a bigot. Plain and simple.

I haven't seen a "no gays allowed" sign in a ****ing team locker room either. Have you?

And maybe muslims should quit blowing shit up and killing people in the name of Allah? Stereotypes exist for a reason.

Saying he wouldn't want them on the team doesn't cross the line. Saying the CAN'T be on the team does. Reading comprehension is a wonderful thing, and so are the context of peoples words. Someone saying they don't WANT black people eating in their establishment is the same as someone saying black people CAN'T eat in their establishment.

Thanks for playing.

Exactly. I know elementary school kids that are brighter than some of these dullards. It's a shame.

I personally hate the whole "tolerance" bullshit when this topic comes up. And I don't give a crap about gay people. What you do in the privacy of your bedroom, so long as it's between consenting adults, is your business and you're welcome to it. But if someone doesn't like gays it doesn't make them a bigot anymore than a guy who doesn't like tall chics or chics with flat asses.

Not everyone has to be tolerant of everything, and it should also be just fine for someone to disagree with someone else's lifestyle choice and say they don't like it, and people be ok with them saying that. THAT is real tolerance.

You'll get skewered for your position. Those demanding tolerance are usually among the least tolerant people you know, because the only tolerance they're really demanding is tolerance of their positions at the expense of all others.

Speak for yourself, brah. Nowadays plenty of dudes are secure enough in their heterosexuality that they are capable of hanging out with gay people without getting all weird about it.

I have a real hard time tolerating a type of person, well actually I loath them & hate is bout the best word to describe the feeling. The worst part of it is that my brother is one. Talk about awkward lol It's sadly true tho and I still have to "accept" him for who he is, doesn't mean I like it. I don't even like to admit this on his part but my brother is a Raiders fan.

Why dammet WHY? I hate Raiders & I hate Broncos those kind of peoples make me sick SICK I SAY. Should I tollerate and love my brother? ? ? IDK?
I ask that question every day. Per shame he bestowed my family per shame. :(

Thig Lyfe 01-30-2013 07:13 PM

By the way, there's nothing refreshing about a bigot being "honest," and admonishing people who advance an oppressive or bigoted viewpoint is not "PC bullshit." We're not talking about feelings getting hurt, we're talking about the fundamental issues of equality and discrimination. People like this guy need to stop being "honest" and start seriously reconsidering their backwards, ignorant, misinformed worldviews.

This idea that we're supposed to tolerate intolerance is complete nonsense, and I'm really sick of people pushing it as though it's some kind of brilliant counterpoint.

I assume you meant ISN'T the same.... Well that's good news. Apparently now that the civil rights act has passed there are no more bigots. As soon as the law made them take down their 'no blacks allowed signs' they ceased being bigots. All those klan members like david duke espousing all that hate on antional tv, nope they arent bigots at all because after all they didnt have the legal power to actually keep blacks and whites from getting married. That was just their non bigoted preferences. Whew. Thanks for schooling me.
