That was the 2nd most infuriating end to a game I ever watched. The 1st being Chris Chambliss' walk-off home run to win the playoffs for the Yankmes in '76.

Good idea. Besides Brett, who would the other 3 faces be on the KC sports athlete Mt. Rushmore?

I know this is an old thread. Pretty much everyone else agreed 2 other faces would be len dawson and tom watson, but I'm surprised no one suggested Satchel Paige as the 4th.

OK, slightly off subject but anyone know when this pic of Brett was taken? SI says it was after Brett's 1000th hit in 1979, but the K didnt have that Royals jumbotron in leftcenter back in those days. WTF??

A lot of people couldn't understand how a player could get so angry about something like that. IMO, it was years of frustration of losing the ALCS the hated Yankees that came to a head. I almost jumped into the TV I was so mad...I was right there with George in my anger...GD MOTHERFN YANKEES DID IT AGAIN!

It really is a shit move to protest after the HR. Could you imagine if Randy Moss or Santonio Holmes schooled your secondary for a game winning TD, and only after he hauled it in, protesting that his socks weren't properly tucked in. It's not so much that they protested it at all, but they were laying in wait to protest when it made a difference.

Yeah, big blunder on SIs part. No way that pic is from '79. Dumbasses...
