Working as a painter for a half-assed owner who sent his guys 50 feet in the air on old wooden ladder with no harness. It wouldn't be so bad to be this high on an old wooden ladder but half the time we would be working on the side of a house where the ground wasn't level and his solution would be to stick a piece of 2x4 under the low side of the ladder to balance the ladder.
Second day on the job one of the guys finally bounced his ladder of the piece of 2x4 (shocking huh) and was taken away in an ambulance unconscious. Walked off the job right there and kicked myself for following that assholes lead. I've done dry wall, construction, landscaping and worked as a molder in an iron foundry for a year while not pleasant I never felt my life was in danger. |

Corn Detasseling at 4 a.m. was some pretty big suckage

Selling cotton candy, sno cones and such in the aisles of Royal's stadium. The work wasn't that bad beside worrying about falling down the steps when in the upper deck. What sucked about it was the pay, damn near working for free. Highlight was watching bo jackson taking batting practice almost daily before work started.

I have 2.
1. I used to work for an inventory company when I was in high school. Yes, I worked in air conditioned stores and didn't have to do any manual labor. But counting boxes of cereal and bottles of ketchup for 8 hours made me absolutely crazy. 2. Also in HS I was a ref for youth basketball. I'm not the type of person who can just block it out when people are screaming at me. So basically I got paid $10 a game to get called every name in the book by parents of 3rd grade girls who are mad that I'm not calling every travel. I even had to kick one dad out of a game because he came onto the court. |
Working on the oil rigs, work-over rigs to be exact. Paid really well, but was very hard dirty work. 10-14 hours a day, in all weather, which really sucked here in Wyoming with the wind and snow.
2nd place would have to be when i was the GM of a fast food restaurant, nothing more than an overpaid babysitting job in reality:grr: |
Boy, this thread makes me really appreciate my brain, education, and good fortune.

I did plenty of detassling and rouging milo when I was a kid. I thought it was easier than the work I normally had to do on the farm, and I got paid for it.
How about cutting thistles all day long? That was a bitch. Made detassling seem like vacation. Cutting hogs. Ohh my. Wrestling a hog down in the mud and the shit and clipping off it's nuts. That was a PIA... |
