He has to improve to a place where he's making the players around him better. He has to lead receivers into and out of their breaks, and he needs to trust things enough to put some touch on the ball. There were countless plays this year that were 18" behind the wideout...but there were as many that hit someone in the helmet or hands and neither failed attempt falls in our favor. It's hard to play well when your trust or faith is constantly being challenged, that absolves him of nothing, but it's exhausting.... Dropped passes weigh about 20-50 pounds each I'd say. That's what gets added to the weight the QB is carrying on his back when the receiver drops the ball on 3rd and open. In short, I say better timing and what can be statistically be called accuracy I guess, but more completely is really his impact on other players. If he's hitting guys in stride on everything and is recognizing that the best wideout we have is the open one, I'll be a very happy fan.
Basically we need marked improvement. There needs to be a presence from that position, but he needs talent around him and for Chief's sake a QB coach (obligatory). We need some explosive talent at the WR/slot position. I like Bowe and Chambers, but they're nearly the same player in my mind, which isn't bad necessarily. What's wrong with having talented man-sized depth at WR in the NFL? That's rhetorical, but the answer is nothing. We need however, a Santonio Holmes-Welker-Jackson-Maclin-Harvin-Esque player. Somebody feisty and quick/fast with option routes in their veins. Somebody has to get open, and become a threat with the ball in their hands.
Just my couple cents, sorry if I rambled.
