If the Chiefs avoid winning the Andrew Luck sweepstakes, Haley should be extended by at least one year. If they make the playoffs, Haley should get a fat new contract.

Regardless of record (with limits) it depends on how the team looks overall. Do thy look improved? Do the regress? Does Haley cost us key games with bad decisions or does he win them? Etc.......

Injuries will flat destroy some teams this year, more so than usual due to the crappy off season.Record alone doesn't always tell the story. Were we to lose JC or Cassel for an extended time frame we are screwed. Bowe as well for that matter.

A franchise QB and a well rounded team with talent around him makes the coaches job much easier. It's not that I don't like Haley it's just unfortunate for him that Cassel isn't going to cut it.

i hope/wish Haley hangs around long enough to groom his own QB..I'd like to see that

First common sense answer. Haley is not going anywhere.

Y'all should be glad your boss is not so critical. Comical.

I think we should change coaches every 3 or 4 years regardless of progress. That really helps build SB winners.

Deberg_1990 09-08-2011 07:05 AM

Haley gets a C+ grade so far

Chiefnj2 09-08-2011 07:09 AM

6 or less wins - goodbye.
7-8 wins - there better be some good extenuating circumstances like injuries to Cassel, Bowe, Charles, Hali.
9 + wins - safe unless a loss or two were caused by poor coaching decisions and it keeps KC from the postseason.

sarcasm at its finest!

I think he has to show that he can win within the division more consistantly. That is a concern IMO.

IMHO he just has to show he is maturing as a coach. No or very few bonehead decisions. He has to get these rookies playing the way he got D, Bowe and Johnson playing. And those two still need to produce this year without taking a step back.

I don't think our record will be what it was last year, too many things already stacking up against us. Strength of schedule being the biggest. The loss of Moeaki being another. I am not even sure we make the playoffs. But if he can get the younger guys playing I would extend him.

I would hate to start shuffling head coaches the way the Faiders have. It just upsets any progress or momentum you have to continue building.

This. I think he needs to go back to taking no shit, like he was the last two years. He seems to have gotten a little soft. I know the season hasn't even started yet. But I want our meth head dick of a coach back.

Agree I think any coach deserves at least 1 shot to develop their own qb.
Usually it happens right away in our case it may be down the road.
That's why the first move of most new coaches is to pick a qb early.

Misplaced_Chiefs_Fan 09-08-2011 07:22 AM

Barring getting arrested or punching out Pioli on the sidelines, Haley is going nowhere.

Get used to it.

Otter 09-08-2011 07:26 AM

Catastrophic failure.

Haley and Pioli have done wonders improving this team considering what they inherited from Herm.

This. Cassel's skill set has peeked. Not a good sign for Haley unless he addresses the most important position on the team and he and Pioli take off their blinders.
