how about a third alternative:

in part due to

a future as an average starter or good backup.

All I know is, yesterday had to be his best game of the season, if not his entire pro career. He looked pretty sharp, and seemed to catch the Steelers asleep on D alot. He made plays with his arm AND with his legs. Shit, dude was everything I'd want in a QB in a playoff game. Just like all season, he's better under pressure and there's no more pressure than a home playoff game against a team who had a better record than yours did. Backing into the playoffs, it seemed a no brainer that the Donks would be one and done.

Tebow looked really solid, and at this point I'm never betting against the kid again. You'd be a fool to do that.

God hates the Chiefs by the way. That's the only explanation I can think of.

Tebow is certainly frustrating... and a lot of it is the play calling.

I was ready for a snow storm to knock out my FiOS yesterday when the 2nd quarter started, then... they started actually calling plays. They started being aggressive.

It's great to watch Tebow play when he's scrambling around... sure, not a lot of pretty passes, but he had a number of them yesterday. Losing Decker is going to sting for next week, but anything from here on out is gravy.

Denver advanced (ugly or not) and they won their home playoff game, and played well in doing it... I'm happy. There's a lot to focus on with that team in the offseason, it's far from being where they need it to be. I'm happy for guys like Bailey.

For 316 yards and 2 TD's. And when you consider there were at least 3 drops, balls that totally should have been caught...then yeah, I'd say he looked pretty sharp.

I'd also say that the Steelers D look awfully dull. Like they didn't prepare for the possibility that Tebow could throw. That's just stupid on their part. They deserved to lose.

movinbones 01-09-2012 07:51 AM

he throws the ball beyond 7 yards... a step closer to greatness than our QB

more playoff wins than Tony G... my god this is depressing

Why does this poll pigeon hole you into saying "Yes, Tebow is why the Broncos are doing what they're doing this year AND he has a bright future as a QB?"

The two are not necessarily tied together.

Exactly.

I think Tebow's ceiling as a QB is pretty low actually.

But he just refuses to lose and that attitude is infectious. They wouldn't be where they are right now without him.

But they won't get much farther than where they are right now WITH him.

I think Tebow brings confidence and good leadership, but I don't think it's going to last a long time.

They will lose to the Pats next game, and then they may have a decent year next season.

I don't think Tebow will improve in his passing game and it will eventually force Elway to get someone else.

Yeah, it's hard to disagree with that statement... gotta love his work effort and desire to improve. If they can upgrade at TE, pass catching RB... maybe his production will be more "well received and accepted" by the fans. I dunno.

I do know this... guys like Ryan with all that talent around them are out again, after failing miserably in the playoffs... again. They have everything you appear to want in your QB... but, maybe it boils down to that internal "IT" that Tebow appears to have more than most.

I dunno.

Its tough to choose one of the two, its a little like Trent Dilfer and the Ravens when they won the superbowl. The Ravens started winning when they put him in at QB. Not saying the doncs are going to win it all, but they put in Tebow, he has not lit the world up, but does just enough for them to win, and does not typicly do things to cause them to lose. He does bring something to that team though.

The Steelers played 9 guys in the box alot yesterday and left thier corners one on one a bunch of times with no help. Unfortunately for them, they don't have 2 corners like the Chiefs do. Instead of throwing into tight windows, he had recievers with huge seperation and NFL easy throws. I give him credit for hitting those recievers in stride, but Pitt took away the run and blew coverages leading to a "big day" (for him) passing. I'm sorry, but if a QB can't hit that throw to Thomas in OT, they don't belong anywhere near an NFL team.

This

I've heard ESPN commentary saying "Look how the Chiefs played them. blah, blah, blah."

Not once did I hear one of them say "Most teams can't play that style of defense because they don't have the personnel the the Chiefs to do pull off such a scheme."

Just a little recognition for how good Carr & Flowers are would have been nice.

Heh, watching Ike Taylor and company brought back memories of Bartee and Warfield. Pittsburgh tried to replicate and got caught with thier pants down.

MAYBE?!?!?!

The QB position is more about that "IT" factor than anything else.
