Jd, what are your thoughts on trading a shitload to get Luck?

I side with Pioli. Too many eggs to put in one basket.

Besides... He's not even available. The Colts couldn't be more obvious in their intentions.

I get that.

I just really wish we were in a spot to get the guy.

Happen every single year where a QB falls down the draft that everyone says there's no way he does. Hopefully its RG3 this year to us... or at least far enough down where we can trade up without parting with two first round picks.

O.city 01-15-2012 09:43 PM

So you think it's a given that the Redskins are taking RGIII?

I don't have any doubt in my body that Shanahan will draft RG3 if he's still on the board when the Redskins pick. I wouldn't even be shocked if he traded up in front of the Browns to draft him.

O.city 01-15-2012 09:48 PM

Probably true.

He really fits that system pretty well.

I gotta say I've kinda come over to your side on RGIII. I think he's an intriguing prospect but he has alot more question marks and I don't think he is a can't miss guy.

I think the Luck stuff is probably pretty spot on. I've went back and watched alot of his stuff and he's pretty much the real deal. I'd love to somehow get him in a Chiefs uni if the price were right.

I do see the not giving up so much tho.

I'm basing all this on the fact that these teams could fill their qb needs before the draft.

I don't think Shanny will want to have to groom a new qb.

It's cleveland and Miami that scares me the most.

Shanny would LOVE to have a QB that can bootleg out like Jake Plummer. Because his offense is designed around using the QB's athleticism to open up plays, I don't think he's as concerned about a learning curve. If Plummer can run the offense, RGIII as a rookie can too.

And there's no way Cleveland doesn't make an aggressive play to get him. Holmgren is a QB guru. Shurmur knows QBs. There's no way either thinks Colt McCoy is the answer.

Don't you think teams that possibly get an Orton or say a Manning are still likely to draft RG3 to replace them?

O.city 01-15-2012 10:19 PM

I don't se why you would.

If you signed those guys you would want to put people around them to win right now.

Maybe so. I just don't think we can assume 100% that teams wouldn't still take RG3.

What would you do if you were sitting at #4 with RG3 there and had just signed Kyle Orton?

A draft of

RGIII
Reynolds
Fleener
Polk
bpa
bpa
bpa

Would be fan****ing tastic.

Even if he fell.. We would not select him, we are the Chiefs..

Derek Anderson AND Brady Quinn. Recreate that Browns magic.

boogblaster 01-16-2012 12:20 AM

WildTurkey 01-16-2012 12:43 AM

That's a sad list of washups, retreads, over-the-hills, and underachievers. So no matter if you follow the OP or interpreted it wrong as "who would the Chiefs like", the answer is the same: no one wants these bags of shit. The ONLY one available who doesn't outright suck is Orton, and even he doesn't impress that much.

There is no way RGIII makes it past the 2nd pick, never mind slips to the Chiefs. The Rams know there are plenty of teams out there who want him, and they will entertain offers to trade up and take the best one.
