Perhaps, I don't think she's as committed to the sport as she used to be. Before this Wimbledon, she'd lost fairly early in three of her last four slams. Guys at the top level of the men's game just don't do that. In fact, Nadal's 2nd round loss here is the first time I can remember in years that any one of Djokovic/Nadal/Federer/Murray has lost early in a slam.

KC_Connection 07-08-2012 10:17 AM

Federer hasn't lost before the QFs in a slam since the 2004 FO in the 3R. Ridiculous streak actually. Nadal's last time before Rosol here was the 2009 FO loss to Soderling in the 4th round. Djokovic's last early loss was the 2009 FO in the 3rd round. Even Murray, the least consistent among them, hasn't lost early since the 2010 USO in the 3rd.

She was also injured, iirc.

Federer finally breaks his ass

KC_Connection 07-08-2012 10:19 AM

What a game. What effort from both of them. Federer comes out on top...I wonder if that will demoralize him.

That's another thing that's ridiculous about the top men's players. They're never hurt (or it just seems that way and they're able to excel despite injuries). Del Potro was in the running to join that elite before his injury.

They might be the most well conditioned athletes in any sport

Or some kind of other PEDs maybe. There's a lot out there.

Aren't they piss tested like most other sports?

I find it amazing how Djokovic, Nadal, and Murray are able to reach as many balls as they do. It's like they're playing on clay in every match.

A ton actually, I think. Don't forget that there's always undetectable PEDs being produced, though.

Federer seems to be pulling away

stonedstooge 07-08-2012 10:35 AM

I love how Federer will kick in the cruise control and let you beat yourself if you want.
