If Cassel goes down and neither Quinn or Stanzi is the answer we won't have to trade up at all.

I like the 2013 QB class depth much better than the past several years. I think there are 4 or 5 guys who will be better than Tannahill. So we should get a shot at a QB without giving up a bunch of 1st rounders.

Yup. That is of course, if they come out. Murray and Bray can stay another year, along with Logan Thomas I believe. So it could come down to a two horse race with Smith being the Tannehill once again

We just shouldn't have that much competition for a QB in the draft next year, since 10 QB have been taken in the first 36 picks over the last two years. A lot of teams have young guys they won't move on from.

Panthers, Jaguars, Vikings, Bengals, Browns, Redskins, Colts, 49ers, Titans, Dolphins.

We really need Ryan Fitzpatrick and Sam Bradford to play well this year.

Oakland could want to move on from Carson Palmer, but who knows? Will Al Davis gone, that franchise becomes a big question mark.

I think it should be Arizona and KC with clear-cut needs at QB next year. With four QB as likely first round picks, the odds are greatly in our favor of drafting a guy without having to trade up for him.

The jags and Vikings will be quick to move on if Gabbert and Ponder dont show something this year. I think the Rams will stick around for another year with Bradford, he's not terrible and he has talent. Didn't Fitzpatrick just get a fat new contract?

The hell if I know. I just know that Chiefs won't draft a QB with the first pick no matter how bad Cassel is this year.

Fitzpatrick's contract was front loaded. They can dump him after this year with virtually no problem.

I'm saying NO WAY the jags or vikes move on from a top ten draft pick after two years. Not a chance.

Been watching some Geno Smith clips.... Whoever it was that was talking about him (I think SNR) was right....that guy has got some incredible potential. Possibly next year's RG3? I remember seeing QB prospect rankings a year ago that usually had RG3 ranked around #9 or 10.

durtyrute 07-12-2012 03:53 PM

Here's a novel idea, how about we give the QB's on our roster, not named Cassel, a chance.

That'd be me.

I'm a bit reserved knowing that he IS facing shitty Big East turds in most of his highlights, but I'll be damned if that guy doesn't have a rocket. He's pretty damn accurate, too. All the throwing technique is there. Throw in his big size and ultra-tough attitude and he's well on his way to becoming an elite QB in this next draft class.

The key is obviously going to be his adjustment to the Big XII. Not that he'll be facing all-world defenses or anything, but the competition WILL be quite a bit stiffer. But if he thrives in this environment, I'd very nearly be tempted to put him as the #1 overall QB in this next draft.

Whoa, that's crazy talk/Scott Pioli

So here's a game where Smith WASN'T facing a crap Big East defense. He was actually facing the 2011 LSU Tigers.

Mistakes were made, but that's what happens when you're going up against a defensive backfield like LSU's. That deflection-pick at the end of the first half should never have been thrown in the first place. Blame that one on the coach, IMO.

If you want to skip to the most incredible play, go to 10:10. Beautiful throw.

Once again, Smith's got a VERY quick release and can place the ball pretty damn accurately. His struggle into the NFL will be marked by learning how to take snaps from under center. That's the primary knock against him. But everything else looks great.

Damn.

TBH, Smith might have the best overall mechanics of any guy in this draft, arm wise.

He needs some footwork fixes, but at that level who doesn't. Color me intrigued.

And if Jones busts? So the **** what? Draft another QB.

No.

You don't take a piece of crap QB just to take a QB.
