Actually no...I don't believe there has been a 0-0 game at home all year. I take it back.

Live soccer games are a ton of fun. And soccer bar crowds are a bunch of fun too. You don't have to obsess over the sport to enjoy the atmosphere.

I didn't always hate it. I used to just not like it. The hate evolved from the elitist fans who tell me I don't like it because "I don't understand it". No, I understand it and still don't like it. The fan base just gets majorly butt hurt by people who don't buy in. I had a thread on here a couple of years ago that perfectly illustrated it. I mean there was someone wishing death on me. It is because of this that I hate soccer.

Haha, there has only been one 0-0 tie all year so you should be safe. Impossible to get tix for Wednesday how about you come to a playoff game sir.

Of course you realize I am putting you with the rowdies. The old men sort of stand at the back so maybe that will work out well. You can't be offended by bad language and nobody really sits.

I'm doing something very important for SOC Wednesday so that's okay. I can't stand near old men. I have a construction company and I did 5 years in the USMC. I can handle language. I'm not sure I can stand for all 10 hours of a soccer match though.

This often comes from people going on and on about soccer while experiencing first hand soccer at a level not representative of the sports in its modern form in this country.

I mean noobs get destroyed for not knowing intricate almost crazy details of the Chiefs...their history...their style of play...and the qualities of each and every player.

Soccer haters often work off assumptions that don't even come close to that level of detail. It is usually the soccer version of thinking each team gets 5 downs in football.

I agree the way some soccer fans come off isn't the way I like to come off and I can find it obnoxious but if you think its unique to soccer fans its not. Also, I have seen these threads play out...lets just agree that it probably didn't start by some soccer guy going elitist out of nowhere...people love poking that bear.

That's news to me. The butt hurt I've seen is mostly from people who tell soccer fans that soccer isn't a real sport. Can't blame them for getting defensive. I'm anything but a soccer fan. I only watch it so I can find another excuse to drink with friends. But as a non-soccer fan, I can tell you that the constant questioning of the sport's legitimacy is a hell of a lot more annoying.

I'm not going to lie, I started the thread and "poked that bear". But the key point is I started a thread for anyone who shared my dislike of the sport. I did not go jumping in on the World Cup thread and bothering those who were getting off on it. If someone didn't like my take on the game they could have ignored it as I ignored their thread and left it to me and the other soccer haters. But is that what they did? Oh hell no. They got all defensive, and then offensive like I had gone trolling on a soccer board.

Phobia 10-22-2012 01:23 AM

Soccer is definitely a sport. Those guys work almost as hard as NASCAR drivers out there on the field.

There is a lot of...taking the lowest common denominator about the sport and the American version of the sport and casting it across the league.

This league is only 17 years old and absolutely has been a mess for some of those years. It really turned a corner around 2007 or so. You really saw the league find its legs in a lot of different ways.

The modern version of the world's sport is a tough physical style of play with great athletes. The MLS values a style of play that Americans find important.

It's a real sport. And those who play it are some big time athletes.

The sport just sucks.

So you troll'd soccer fans and are judging them for not responding to you in good faith.

Good work bro.

Nooo. If I had been trolling them I would have done so in their own thread. I started my own for those who felt the same as I do. There is a difference.

You are going to hate this...and I am happy to explain why if I thought you actually cared but the tie thing is absolutely not seen as an issue.

Mostly because a tie is never at all a tie to the fans and teams that come away from it.
