Goodell just said at his presser that the league will look at expanding the playoffs to 14 or 16 teams.

That's to many teams gonna be like the NBA soon.

I agree. It's perfect the way it is. It's like every time they meet they have to change something. :cuss:

I'd rather see the playoffs decreased to 5 teams with the overall record deciding the bye week.

I'm aware of that.

But regardless of the reason for that mediocrity, teams should not be rewarded for it.

Wouldn't that take at least one of the SB's away from the Giants?

Yes, and the Packers, as well.

Don't care.

Just award every team a super bowl ring at the end of the year so no feelings are hurt and everyone is treated equally and fairly.

If I were in charge, what I'd really do is go back to 2 divisions per conference, expand to 18 games (14 in division games, 4 out of division games), have two bye weeks, all taken between weeks 9 to 11 (which means 1 week in the middle of the season with no football), with each team getting two consecutive weeks off.

4 division winners and 4 wild cards.

The playoffs already aren't interesting until the 2nd round, and now they want to make the regular season much less meaningful (and it's pretty meaningless now).

What the hell are you talking about? Without the regular season I would have missed out on 3 wins! For those of us that pull for teams that don't play in the post season, the regular season is everything :cuss:

I wonder how many wild cards have won it all.

So basicly you like the idea of division winners only. This would probably do away with a bye week for any playoff team.

It is also punishing teams that play in good divisions. Where the 2cd place team in a division could have a 10-6 or 11-5 record and stay at home while a team that is 7-9 or 8-8, definition of mediocrity, gets in as usual.
That seems a little harsh, understandable but nonetheless harsh.

This league is becoming less and less watchable every year.

This is why, under the current setup, I'd allow for a wild card in each conference, even though I think 8 is the actual ideal number of playoff teams.

This. The only thing that is currently keeping my NFL interest since the Chiefs and Lions suck is Fantasy Football. If not for FF I probably would just spend my Sundays doing anything else.
