49% plus of this board is happy with just being better so far. ****ing sad.

The first time I've ever selected the "Gaz" option. That Gaz was quite the poster by the sounds of it, eh?

CrazyPhuD 01-04-2013 03:19 AM

Every season there is only one winner, everyone else is a loser. Would making it to even ONE AFC championship game be an improvement? Absolutely but failing to win it all means that in the end you still failed.

No. I have no desire to see the guy come here and repeat his success from Philadelphia. The idea is we progress and get better in our careers as we go. And I don't want to be a 50 year old Chiefs fan that has NEVER seen a Super Bowl victory. I don't care if the guy wins 6 playoff games in 14 years as long as 1 of them is a Super Bowl win. I'd rather win it next year, and watch him stumble for the 13 afterwards than just make the dance every year. I was ready for Carl Peterson to go for that very reason. This franchise, this town, this fan base deserves to know what winning it all feels like. Only it's oldest fan elders can relate those feelings, and 14 years from now there may not be any of those left...

Funny what time will do... so many are content with just getting back to what you left with Marty. Losing does that though.

I think Reid is a smart hire and if given 2 years, he can really revamp that team. Hell, I think he can do some great things in his first season there as there are a number of good players. I'd say if he can make some serious moves with players and the last place schedule - KC is an 8 win team minimum in 2013, then set up to really make noise in 2014.

Will be interesting to see it all play out - now if only OAK and SD could figure out how to be better.

I'd be happier than now. I'm 42 almost and have seen 3 playoff wins and 1 AFC Championship game. At least I would be excited about Chiefs football again.

The last half of your life has been a bit painful since the league moved from 28-32 teams... I'm 42 as well and couldn't imagine fighting through the pain of the last 20. Crazy to think it's less than a year away from that 20 year anniversary of the win at the Houston Oilers. Seems so weird to even type that name.

CoMoChief 01-04-2013 06:54 AM

Hell why not? We haven't been to a SB since 1970....last PLAYOFF VICTORY was in 1994.

BlackHelicopters 01-04-2013 07:04 AM

A step in the right direction, as long as it's part of a PROCESS building toward multiple SB wins.

A team year after year that wins, gets many playoff wins and FINALLY makes it back to the Super Bowl after 45 or so years, HELL YES!!! Of course I want to win the Super Bowl but I don't think a 9-7 team that squeaks into the SB and wins but never wins any other year would be as satisfying to me......

chiefzilla1501 01-04-2013 07:48 AM

I don't know. Yes, I'd be happy to see a quality football product on the field again. I just know that 5 years of near misses makes it acceptable for us to see 15 years of near misses, before we realize that we need to make a move.

I would rather win one Super Bowl in 5 years and not make the playoffs the other 4 then come close and never make it.

That would mean 10+ playoff victories. Maybe One Superbowl appearance and no wins.

Would you be okay with this?

You have to figure the fickleness of Chiefs fans. If he spread the playoff games through the 14 years maybe some would be pacified. If he didn't do squat for 4 years he'd be gone and the other 10 would be speculation. From what I see here the fans want instant success. In the Chiefs case instant is kind of an open ended date - last playoff win was in 1993 so there really isn't a measuring stick to go by.

Regardless of who the HC is if the Chiefs do well we will all be happy, if we continue to suck as we have of late I don't think the league will last long enough to see the Chiefs in the SB again.

Reerun_KC 01-04-2013 08:05 AM

I would embrace it.

That would officially rid us of the stench that is Marty forever...

Rausch 01-04-2013 08:06 AM

I've never seen this team win more than 2 playoff games.

Just being in the SB?

**** yeah I'd be happy...
