The Chiefs have the 1st pick of the ****** draft if they miss on it I will be pissed if who they didn't pick has a great season with that pick.

I don't give a ****. Geno Smith is worth the pick and just to find out what he got is also the intrigue. I will be ****ing pissed if he finds success with some other team when we could have that success for ourselves.

And I'll be pretty cranky if we end up picking someone who turns out to be the next Sanchez and sets the Chiefs back another 4-5 years. It's all a matter of perspective.

Look, I'm all in favor of taking a QB at #1 if the powers that be think that is our best option. In fact, I really hope it happens. I just think that the "QB or bust" mentality is a good way to build a shitty football team.

I've yet to see someone come up with a player other than QB that makes sense for the Chiefs pick at 1-1. ALL the guys at the top have flaws, but for some reason they are glossed over when it's a non-QB. It's bullshit.

You can play the same games.
Jekyll is no Ogden/Pace.
Star isn't a Ngata/Suh
Moore isn't a DT/LT

For sake of answering the question, yes I would.

He sure the hell could bust but ya know what? 30 years of retread has ****ing sucked balls. Maybe if he does bust we can take another chance on a even more promicing QB prospect but NOOOOO CHIEFS AND FANS ARE TOO COWARD TO DO SO.

Two things:

First, how much more "set back" can this organization possible get? Something like 29 wins in the last SIX YEARS.

Second, even if you don't agree with the above, you realize that your thinking shouldn't be limited to just the QB position, right?

It's not good to miss with an early pick. But I'd much rather miss taking a chance on a franchise-changer than to play it safe (Hi, Tyson Jackson) and miss anyway.

I voted no, mainly due to the fact that he seems to be regressing rather than progressing. He's not exactly overflowing in intangibles, so I could see things going downhill quickly if he and his team continue to struggle.

It gets you Kyle Boller, but it also get you Joe Flacco.

It gets you Jeff George, but it also gets you Peyton Manning.

It gets you Ryan Leaf, but it also gets you Philip Rivers.

It gets you Akili Smith, but if you turn right around and pick Carson Palmer literally only four years later, you're going to be a lot better off for it.

NFL teams should be pulling the trigger on potential franchise QBs in the first-round at least once a decade. We haven't done it in THREE.

Yup 4000 yard passer Carson Palmer is a good pick

Demonpenz 02-17-2013 10:28 AM

Cocoa Jeff George

Carson Palmer was absolutely worth the #1 pick. The fact that he became something of a GIF factory after a freak knee injury doesn't change that.

I'd honestly throw Harrington/Stafford in there too, but Stafford is polarizing around here.

However, in between Andre Ware and Joey Harrington, a 12-year period, the Lions sure had lots of success with retreads like Rodney Pete, Erik Kramer, Charlie Batch, Scott Mitchell and Gus Frerotte.

And it was a good thing they passed on Daunte Culpepper (another QB who was piling up insane numbers before a free knee injury) to take Chris Claiborne.

PaulAllen 02-17-2013 10:50 AM

If we're not expected to draft our own QB at #1, then this is a no brainer. Alas it wont remotely happen.

A 3rd year ascending borderline top 10 quarterback is a retread?
