Alex Smith was good enough in college to start multiple seasons, played well enough to justify a #1 pick in the draft.

Matt Cassel sat the bench behind mediocre quarterbacks, drew a late round mercy pick, learned just enough to play fair for a season before shitting the bed.

They're not really the same player.

giving up our 2nd this year ****ing sucks.

TimeForWasp 02-27-2013 08:26 PM

The only thing good that could happen right now, is if we get a blockbuster trade for our #1 and pick up more high picks this year and still at least pick up a upper crust QB.

I'm pretty sure thats the plan, we'll move down now and pick up a 2nd and more and still end up getting a QBOTF

until Harbaugh, Alex Smith was Matt Cassel

neither but if i have to choose it's probably Cassel

meh ... i don't know

dirk digler 02-27-2013 08:36 PM

I would rather have Cassel and keep the pick(s) and draft a QB #1.

KCBOSS1 02-27-2013 08:38 PM

I just don't see him as a franchise guy. He has gotten better every year. Cassel, no... It's an upgrade, especially based in how he played last year. Not thrilled about the trade. I think now we're married to him for a few years.

Alex Smith - 59.3 completion %, 14,280 yards, 81 TD, 63 INT, 36 Fumbles, 79.1 Passer Rating

How about someone compare Cassel and Smith's last 2-3 season to give an relative idea, instead of a butthurt and ignorant bias?

You can't directly compare the last two seasons because Cassel was hurt most of last season and a big chunk of 2011. Compare 2010 Cassel with 2011 Smith and you see their stats are almost identical.

I would rather use an UDFA QB than either of these two clowns.

Bump 02-28-2013 01:09 AM

lol I read the question as Alex Smith or Matt Cassel + 2 extra seconds in the pocket
