@JasonLaCanfora: With Miami not drafting a tackle high or dealing for Branden Albert from KC, keep in mind they've maintained contact with T Eric Winston

Next year draft picks are always notched up a round to equal the value of a current year draft pick.

A team should have to give us a 1st rounder in 2014 and get a 3rd back or something like that.

Otherwise **** it. Let Albert walk after the tag.

So do you just reduce his salary this year? I guess I don't knwo how that works then.

They usually just convert a part of his base salary into a guaranteed bonus.

For example, when Brandon Carr restructured, they converted $13,250,000 of his 14 mil base salary into a bonus giving them only a cap hit of 750,000.

They can have Winston, and than when Tannehill is pooping himself and the fans are booing him, Winston can come to the rescue!

Miami seems okay with Johnathan Martin at LT, I guess.

So a bonus doesn't count as a cap hit? Or do you just spread the hit over the life of the deal?

If this whole situation didn't humble Alberts demands, he's truly a dumb shit and can walk.

Pretty sure it's the latter, but not 100% sure.

Yeah, I think you spread a bonus, but take the hit on the cash cap, which IIRC, we are already close to.

penbrook 04-28-2013 09:11 PM

There is a mandatory mini camp coming up in a couple of weeks.

We will see if Albert shows than.

O.city 04-28-2013 09:12 PM

If they weren't prepared to play him on the tag, they shouldn't have tagged him.

I think he's probably here for the long haul.

Sassy Squatch 04-28-2013 09:12 PM

Houston is up pretty soon, right? Doesn't hurt to extend him before it becomes an issue.

Yep. Dorsey said they tagged him because he was a good football player and if he thought he wasnt he wouldnt of tagged him.

Also Rapoport says Dorsey loves Albert the football player.
