Well, on the positive side, we are having our best season in 10 years, and several players are underperforming. What happens if they start playing up to potential?

.500 and we give up two 2nd-round picks.

They just need some power. Even a guy like Adam Dunn would help.

I was going to grade Moose on a curve but he popped it up to the 1st baseman...in foul territory.

Yeah, how's his team doing again???

gblowfish 07-14-2013 05:38 PM

I went up on the MLB site to see how the Royals main offensive players have been doing. Some interesting stuff:

1) Hosmer's month has brought him even with his team mates in offensive production for the first half. That doesn't mean he's doing well, by any means. He does lead the team in batting averages, and is tied in homers. He could end up with a halfway decent year if he can hit for some power in the second half.

2) Gordon leads the team in strike outs. Part of that is hitting lead off, he gets more ABs. But he needs to cut that way down and walk more.

3) Cain strikes out a lot too, but is not among the lead leaders. Davis in Baltimore has K'd more than 120 times, but he also has 37 homers.

4) Butler's OBP is the best on the team. He doesn't strike out as much as other DH in the league, but his warning track power is still a problem. And he has to be the slowest guy in MLB. Maybe Oritz is slower, but I'd like to see them in a 40-yard dash contest.

5) Moose in on pace to drive in 35 runs this year. OUCH.

HR's = Rally Killer's

Bunting in the 1st inning to move the runner = smart small ball baseball.

The ineptness of the Royals shines with this post.

ChiTown 07-14-2013 05:54 PM

Oh, and most importantly, **** this team with a rusty barbed wire, AID's Hammer, it's inept owner, it's dumb ****ing GM and it's reerun Coach. I have hit my mother ****ing boiling point with this Team. Yay!!!! I got to the ASB this year before I snapped. Progress!

BlackHelicopters 07-14-2013 05:58 PM

This team's rottenness starts from the head down. Need a sniper with two bullets.

I get that, but when any at bat could result in at least a run, that is better than nothing.

Bambi 07-14-2013 06:07 PM

Wil Myers would have fit it perfect with this team. He doesn't appear to do much more than hit chippy singles.

Sigh....

Steroids or not that is just unfathomable.

ShowtimeSBMVP 07-14-2013 06:13 PM

Went all in with the Myers trade (which was dumb) 8GB in Central and 9.5GB out of 2nd wild card. I would give it a D+.
