What's the difference between controlling your thermostat and controlling your A/C?

Technically, the Saver Switch doesn't get access to the thermostat. It is basically a method of remotely turning off the A/C compressor during peak demand.

Controlling your thermostat means that the utility can go in a change set points.

Ah, okay. I just meant that they're controlling my systems. So maybe it's just an on/off thing and not a settings thing. But the end result seems pretty similar. My house temperature changes because of a decision by some guy at a console in Sector 7G.

LMAO

Yes, they call me every year and give me the same pitch. "If you let us turn off your A/C during the hottest part of the day when you need it the most, and we have our highest demand, we'll credit your account $50.00!"

Me = "Each time to you do it?"

Xcel = "Well, no. Just a single $50.00 credit and we can turn it off as many times as we want. Sir? Sir?"

Click.

77 summer, ambient temperature in the winter unless it drops below 50, then it's 70 long enough to take the chill out

loochy 09-10-2014 02:04 PM

AC in summer:
80 if we aren't home (work days)
76 if we are home
bump to 70 at bedtime

Heat in winter:
68 always unless one of us is really chilled for some reason
if I'm home by myself ill drop it to 65

I am generally responsible for setting it, but we adapt to how each other feels

71-72 it's so damn humid here at night even when it is 65 degrees out... No A/C and your whole house will feel damp inside

Dunit35 09-10-2014 05:22 PM

Just turned off the ac. 78 outside and feels good enough inside.
