Buying a car isn't an investment; it's an expense.

That's the truth.

BTW, if anyone is looking for a cheap, no frills new car, my dad loves his new Nissan Versa. I think they start around $12K. It's kind of generic but pretty comfortable and he has been getting 43 mpg highway.

How're the gas prices up there now, Frosty?

Not completely. A few cars actually do appreciate.

From a couple years ago. This year looks so much like a Sentra you may as well buy a Sentra. Which I wouldn't hate on. They beefed up the Maxima tho and it's sexy if we're going Nissan.

Honestly, I want a Titan but I enjoy my current gas mileage. I would also totally rock their new NV passenger van.

BWillie nailed it.

I've owned 3 used cars in the last 12 years and spent a TOTAL of $7000 on them after reselling the first two for almost what I bought them for.

Sure you add in a little maintenance but you do that on any car.

I've saved thousands of dollars by avoiding the temptation to buy a brand new car. And with that money I'm going to put a down payment on something that's actually worth it: A GODDAMN HOUSE. That's how you manage your money.

Very few, and they typically have a very high buy in cost.

I'm not saying your way is wrong. It just hasn't worked that well for me. I mostly just like talking about cars. :)

In my mind, a car is a consumable asset. When you buy it used, part of it has been "consumed" so you have to figure out where the price break is verses the risk due to poor previous owner care/use, etc.

Congratulations GoChiefs. Another thing that I never thought you'd say.

Much better since the Indians moved in and put in a station. That forced the cartel to lower their prices to compete. Magically, we went from 30 cents a gallon higher than Spokane to about 5 cents a gallon higher overnight.

And surprise, surprise - none of the other stations went out of business or had to lay people off.

Not if you drive them daily.

Unfortunately, gasoline vapor is highly flammable.

I just buy demo cars from a dealership I know well. Used value, full warranty.
