DGB. This kid's talent is sick. If this coaching staff can help him mature which I think they can he will be a flat out stud at the next level.

late arrival
WR Kevin White, W.Virginia |
Man this first round is loaded this year. In order I'm going White, Collins, DGB, Clemmings, Thompson. If Peters interviews well though I'd have him leapfrogging Clemmings and Thompson, possibly DGB.

If the board fell as the OP has it, I think the Chiefs would go with Kevin White, and they would hand in the card in about 3 seconds flat.

I laughed at both of those

Marcus Mariota is going to fail hard. Hes a 4th or 5th rd talent. I dont quite understand the hype of such a system QB that gets to throw to wide open receivers 80% of the time. Watch his tape, wide receivers almost always have 5 steps on their guys
He will be doing Subway commercials with Rober Griffin III in no time |
It would have to be White. When you watch his highlight reel he is everything that people on here are hoping DGB could develop into. Not sure why you wouldn't just take the proven talent over the hopeful that is a head case.

So I'm guessing Flowers combine performance has pushed him up a lot of draft boards? I was just spitballing who may be available to us and I ended up with:
Bucs: Jameis Winston, QB Titans: Leonard Williams, DT Jags: Randy Gregory, OLB Raiders: Kevin White, WR Skins: Dante Fowler, OLB Jets: Marcus Mariota, QB Bears: Vic Beasley, OLB Falcons: Shane Ray, DE Giants: Andrus Peat, OT Rams: Amari Cooper, WR Vikings: Brandon Scherff, OT/OG Browns: Devante Parker, WR Saints: Trae Waynes, CB Dolphins: Landon Collins, SS Niners: Danny Shelton, DT Texans: Bud Dupree, OLB Chargers: Melvin Gordon, RB Chiefs: Ereck Flowers, OT Browns: Malcom Brown, DT Eagles: Jalen Collins, CB Bengals: Eddie Goldman, DT Steelers: Eli Harold, OLB Lions: Arik Armstead, DT Cardinals: La’el Collins, OT Panthers: DJ Humphries, OT Ravens: DGB, WR Cowboys: Todd Gurley, RB Broncos: Maxx Williams, TE Colts: T.J. Clemmings, OT Packers: Jordan Phillips, NT Hawks: Jaelen Strong, WR Patriots: Cameron Erving, C/G At that point I figured Flowers, Harold, Armstead, Collins, Humphries and Clemmings would all be realistic options. I think Dorsey would be a huge fan of Flowers athleticism/strength combination. Perhaps I overrated Peat and Scherff but it seemed to me that the Giants prefer the more technically proficient lineman and the Vikings need someone that can definitely play in case Kalil is still terrible (Flowers has more bust to him). Shelton was a guy that I just couldn't find the right fit for. If the Bears don't take him at 7, he really could be a surprise slide, IMO. Now obviously this mock wouldn't ever happen because if Cooper's still on the board at 9 and there are that many O-lineman available still, the Giants would have no problem putting that pick on the board and letting people fight to get up in front of the Rams. At that point I'd think the Browns are a natural fit. Maybe the Rams would still stick O-line and suddenly Parker is freed up but I have to figure the Niners take him. At that point if Shelton's available, you almost have to take him as the clear BPA. Or do you offer a 3rd to move up to the Dolphins spot and Parker (a 2nd is too much)? In either event, it was an interesting exercise in suggesting what players might slide/be available to us. Ultimately, I think it's pretty apparent that there should be at least a couple of very good players available to us at 18. Sadly, I think the first real drop off comes around 14 but then there's a pretty nice level of talent still to around 20-22. |
