I think you are referring to The Matrix. Every damn movie now has the slow-motion, jumping around fight scenes.

The Matrix...another movie that exists because of Star Wars.

Undoubtedly true. Science fiction didn't exist before Star Wars.

A Trip to the Moon?
Metropolis?
Flash Gordon?

It did, but it was some ****ing boring shit. I mean, have you seen Forbidden Planet? 2001? Yawn.

Star Wars made science fiction fun. In fact, it made movies as a whole a LOT more fun.

A whole shit ton of movies got made because of the success of Star Wars.

To put this into an analogy you'll understand...imagine a world without oil. Then some guy comes along and strikes black gold. And suddenly EVERYTHING IS AMAZING.

Star Wars is cinematic oil boom.

Don't even get me started on fracking.

I understand that is your opinion, yes. And without a doubt, a completely unbiased opinion.

Dane and I agree on this. And we argue every day. You should probably take it as gospel.

FYI, you're a huge Star Trek fan.

There's a reason a whole crap ton of Star Trek movies got made after Star Wars.

You should read this book. Executives at Paramount were basically freaking out over the success of Star Wars. And they used the same special effects company for Star Trek II, III, IV and VI.

Ah, so you are actually saying that, "It basically built the modern science fiction cinema industry as we know it."

Yes, I'd agree with that mostly.

Not just science fiction.

Almost any action-adventure film, or anything with computer-generated effects.

PIXAR exists because of Star Wars.

Yeah, at this point we have to concede that Chris Conley is a better Star Wars fan than you, Clay.

I though Star Wars: Episode IV (or whatever its name is) had virtually zero CGI?

Yes, but the film still revolutionized the special effects industry. The company that did the effects for Star Wars (Industrial Light and Magic) also started the CGI revolution.

http://www.imdb.com/company/co0072491/

And you can thank them for TNG, too.
