It doesn't. That's all you dumb ****s have. "Oh you like Alex Smith, haha you loser!" How would that ever affect anyone? Pssst. It shouldn't. And it doesn't . |

See. Again. Simplistic half assed not having all the facts clueless dumbass . Yes, I'm as simple to just leave because Alex Smith left the 49ers. But I didn't leave when Montana, Rice, Lott, Rathman (my fave 49er growing up) Owens, I named my dog after him, Roger Craig, or any other countless 49er greats that left. I didn't go with them, yet you simple bitches assume that I just said I'm leaving cause Alex Smith left. That's why you couldn't hit a nerve on me. Because your logic is so stupidly flawed....... |

Alex Smith is journeyman quarterback that you have consistently pumped up as something more than he has EVER been. |
If nothing else, it's a cheap rental at a great position of need for that offense. Not much downside.

"Whatever it takes...."
Huh? They gave up nothing to get the guy and I believe he's a FA in the offseason. This does nothing to their cap as the 49ers will take on the accelerated signing bonus/workout bonus and his base is extremely low, especially when pro-rated (hell, we could've fit him under the cap). Giving up a 6th while also swapping late round picks to get a good special teams player is probably worth the trouble - to get a potential starting TE is a no-brainer. This is hardly a 'whatever it takes' move - it's a virtually free flyer on a guy that was a damn good ballplayer when he had a quarterback that would look for him. This blows is what it does. |

frees up 19 million + whatever the cap increase is Plus Bowen will pay cash to rework stuff to make it work |
They'll be us by 21 instead of 17. They still won't win the Super Bowl.
Yep.. I do believe I don't give two shits about this move. |

Teams should always be in "Win Now" mode.
Denver will be good for decades. Get used to it. |
I said several times that we should have been going for him given his history/chemistry with Smith. 2-3 TE sets in our WCO would have been deadly.

Worst case scenario for Denver is that the guy busts and they're out 6th round picks.
Best case scenario for Denver is that he bounces back and becomes a quality target at TE, something that's clearly needed with Greene struggling. Middling scenario for Denver is that Davis is an improvement over Greene, but not all that much of one, at almost no real cost. The risk/reward issue is so heavily stacked in Denver's favor that this is a no-brainer kind of trade. |
