I don't find this that hard to believe. You have a setting for aggravating BEP right?

Not to send this off to the DC, but my industry is very automated and was one of the first to adopt mechanization/automation. Which is good because I wouldn't be competitive in the global market if I wasn't. Even if I was forced to not adopt automation, Brazil, Australia, Russia, etc. would adopt it and any labor gains the national economy got would be lost in the long term, because I couldn't afford to pay my help to compete globally. My margins are bad as it is.

On top of that, the work that is required in the industry nobody wants to do, so the work that is still required to be manual is almost exclusively done by migrants which are almost exclusively immigrants, so eliminating mechanization/automation from my industry would have little economic gain.

Yeah. Interesting. Still seems like it comes down to a debate between the economists (and the economist did an awesome job stating his point) and the technologists. The economist does basically boil down to "that's not the way it worked in the past." And while I'm a believer in holistic trends and such, I do think that things can FUNDAMENTALLY change and break the previous "rules."

That being said, I'm not honestly that alarmed by Humans Need Not Apply, ,but I do think it's interesting as hell to consider.

Meh...completely unnecessary and a non sequitur.

The economy will continue to shift as it did from agrarian, to industrial, to technical/service, etc. The job I currently have didnt exist 40 years ago, and I'm confident jobs that dont exist today will be created as a result of the implementation of robotics in manufacturing.

If there's profit to be had, some entrepreneur will create a company to capture that profit, and that will result in jobs for humans. Dont be afraid of a market economy...it's the best option out there.

Dunno about that. The best option is one close to post-scarcity where the absolute necessities of food and shelter are provided for relatively no cost freeing people to spend excess money on whatever they desire.
