Getting too many middle school kids not wearing costumes. One just carried his skateboard and said he was a skateborder, one who I thought was dressed as a nerd said he wasn't wearing any costume.

Should I deny them a treat if they can't entertain me with a costume?

I'd cut them some slack, especially later in the evening, when they realize that when you are growing up, that means your childhood is slipping by.

Here's a piece from a mom of an older child. It appeared in our local newspaper a while back and has circulated widely since: http://www.davisenterprise.com/forum...k-or-treaters/

So here’s what I can pass on, if you don’t have your own 15-year-old boy.

When a crowd of under-costumed teens shows up on your doorstep, welcome them. It’s a big group because they find strength in numbers. They’re not wearing costumes because they didn’t realize that they’d want to go–nor how badly.

Give them big bars. Don’t tell them they’re too old. They already know that.

Let them pretend it just isn’t so.

Well, you're a nice guy! I gave them some but just a little one. Better n' nuthin' right?

But they're not even 15 years old. They're about 11/12 with one a bit older but he may have just been very tall.

Already had about 25 or so. No teenagers yet but a couple parents asked for some Reeses PB cups for themselves. Great thing about my dog, Dodger is he's great with the kids but someone the size of a teenager shows up in a mask and he goes off. They don't even take the last step on to the porch when he does. LMAO
He weighs 70 lbs but sounds like he's about 200 lbs.

But yeah, it's been a rush and the door is opening and shutting a lot. Letting bugs in.

Already got two 16 year olds. That's early for that crowd.

My Mom and Dad's family had the rule that once you were a teenager you were too old to go out trick or treating. My last year was when I was 12. My sisters got to skate on that but the boys didn't. :(

How old is too old? If they need a shave that crosses the line. :hmmm:
