Gotta give Barley credit, that was a perfectly thrown ball.

The only scouts who are saying there's no elite qb in this draft are the Chiefs.

evolve27 11-03-2012 06:37 PM

Matt Barkley, Matt Lionheart, Matt Cassel.

@M_Tyler26: Barkley is not that good sorry sc fans

The Bad Guy 11-03-2012 07:18 PM

I'm officially in this camp. Geno just doesn't excite me. He throws a nice ball. His passes are crisp, but his decision making in the last 3 games has been very spotty.

I love the fact that Barkley has started 4 years.

ShowtimeSBMVP 11-03-2012 07:19 PM

Barkley has a gun.

Titty Meat 11-03-2012 07:36 PM

Barkley 19/31 328 3 Touchdowns 2 picks

Can put arm strength concerns to bed about Barkley. Plenty of strength

I didn't like Barkley's decision making on the Trojans last scoring drive.
He got bailed by a couple of tickytack PI calls.

And that 4th and 5 with any chance to comeback hanging on a play, he never looks off his primary read with a week in the pocket.

Yep. He's got distance. I still don't see him "firing bullets" but there are plenty of great QBs who don't have that kind of arm.

When they showed the play from behind it looked to be a one read throw. Curls across the board with no one open

He's got just as much arm as a Matt Ryan. It's no stafford but not many guys have that. Bray maybe

Perfect example. Bowe was wide open down the field by about 20 yards. Cassel throws a hirrible pass, and bowe has to come back and adjust, although it's completed and a great catch by Bowe, it shouldve been an easy TD.

Great Expectations 11-03-2012 08:43 PM

Barkley's reads are weak. The talented WR's mask that some. Austin probably does the same for Smith.

AussieChiefsFan 11-03-2012 08:48 PM

Barkley finishes 35 for 54, 489 yards with 5 TDs and 2 INTs

Barkley should be at the top of the draft board. He does have some concerns. Despite having superior WR talent he still averages a pick per game, throwing 2 against Stanford, Cal, Arizona, and Oregon this year alone.

Mother****erJones 11-03-2012 09:31 PM

I was very much against barkley. Not after tonight. He threw a good ball and accurate. Couple bad throws but that happens. Threw a nice deep accurate deep ball. Good pocket passer who stepped into throws and made good choices. Had a WR drop a TD, another stop in the endzone to complain and caused an INT. I was impressed. More I see. More I like. Ill eat crow. Geno has looked bad very bad the past few weeks avg less than 5 ypp. Not good

I'm guessing that most of the Anti-Barkley guys have seen maybe one game during his four year stint as starter.

a very impressive performance given the situation

Mother****erJones 11-03-2012 09:44 PM

USC if they had a D would have won. Just 3 stops and they win. WRs drop the ball in the endzone, and WRs cut routes off to argue REFs and they get INTd

The guy is just an upgraded Cassel, lacks an accurate deep ball. Forces his WR’s to adjust when they shouldn’t have to. Lacks the arm strength of other “Elite” graded QB’s. Question marks on how he would fair with average weapons around him at the next level. Hardly makes plays with his feet if the pocket breaks down. He's an ideal QB if you're running a west coast offense.

Chiefs Pantalones 11-03-2012 09:44 PM

Bull ****ing shit.

He's been a four year starter on a team destroyed by NCAA sanctions. He's been accurate, can throw the ball deep and has been a great leader.

JFC, to compare him to Cassel is beyond ****ing stupid. What, are you 14 years old and incapable of critical thinking and analysis?

Anybody can cuss and sound like an NFL scout you silly ****. I watch every game USC game, they're my favorite college team. I'm 2 hours away from USC. He's not a ****ing franchise QB, I haven't missed a game all season. I see what I see, he can't win in big games. He's a dink and dunk QB. Doesn't throw we'll down the field.

JFC lol that's like your favorite saying isn't?

I bet you say the say for every USC QB. Most fans are blinded by their favorite team. I'm being honest, Barkley is not good as many people think. There's only 2 college teams I watch. USC and Boise St. You can say what you want, but you can't deny anything I've said. He struggles with the deep and has a weak arm.

Less concern about those than Geno Smith shitting the bed 3 straight weeks.

Without that basic handoff to Austin, his stats are pretty mediocre today.
