I'm hoping for a 15 inning O's win. Followed by two more extra inning slugfests.

That's true if the Royals also win Monday at Seattle, and Texas beats Houston on Monday too.

We trail Baltimore by one game. We trail Tampa by three and they are already in a WC spot. Jump the team right in from of you. Tampa still has tough games ahead so them helping us jump Baltimore is a good thing. Plus, Tampa is the team I would prefer to play in a one game wild card.

No no no no no!!!!!!

You want the two teams in the WC slots to lose, whoever it may be, the rest takes care of itself if the Royals keep winning.

Jumping Baltimore doesn't mean shit if we didn't gain anything on the actual teams we need to lose.

ShowtimeSBMVP 09-20-2013 10:05 PM

O's got a man at 2nd 2 outs.

That just bunches everyone up because the teams involved are playing other teams involved. Sweep Texas brining them into a tie with us. Jump Baltimore. The Rays still have three games against the Yanks. While I prefer Tampa, this scenario sets the stage for a Cleveland KC wild card.

Cleveland's schedule is pretty easy. There's a pretty good chance that they could run away with the wild card you are looking at.

We're better off letting the Yankees and Red Sox open up the AL East spot for us.

ShowtimeSBMVP 09-20-2013 10:12 PM

Wil Myers swings at everything.

CaliforniaChief 09-20-2013 10:12 PM

Isn't it obvious that we want the Orioles to win tonight? To draw the Rays back towards the pack. We need chaos at the top. And an Orioles win moves us a half-game closer to the WC than a Rays win does.

Best case scenario is bunch EVERYONE up and go from there IMO. We shouldn't be looking for what scenario sets the stage on who we play, GET there first.

You can say that again. He's been good last 2 weeks.

ROYC75 09-20-2013 10:16 PM

A TB win drops our magic number down too, as long as both WC teams ahead of us lose, it stays up !

Boner!

We're probably too used to rooting for TB against Texas when Texas was cratering down. Takes a bit to shift gears.

Rays have the Yanks next and Baltimore closes with Boston. I would say there is a pretty good chance that happens. So long as we take care of business against Texas that sets the stage for KC and Cleveland.

Good, we're going to need all the mojo we can get with the pitching matchup tomorrow. If we can win that one, I like our chances with BGJ on the hill Sunday.

That was earlier this week, this weekend the Rays should die. If they lose today and tomorrow though, then they'll be tied with Baltimore and we probably won't care on Sunday.

ShowtimeSBMVP 09-20-2013 10:22 PM

Perhaps it's just three decades of being a Royals, Chiefs and Wildcats fan but, the bunched up scenario scares me. I just know some how we will be one of the odd men out. I don't like nor trust ties. We need to be hoping for a way to get in clean.

Rays win today and tomorrow, they are at 85 wins.

Baltimore wins today and tomorrow (and we win tomorrow) then on Sunday we're all one big happy 4-way-tie family along with Texas and we control our destiny.

edit: well, almost, I guess we'd be half a game back

Bingo. And chaos ensues as we head to play Seattle/CWS while the AL East cannibalizes itself.

Bottom line is that we just have to win.

Not sure how you can want Baltimore winning any more games. The royals have to start passing teams. Baltimore gets swept is a much better outcome than them winning IMO.

The Tuesday loss to the Indians is going to be to much to overcome, especially after the tribe is gifted a 7 inning win tonight.

Edit: I'd love to be wrong but that is my but feeling.

We have hashed this all night so far, a TB win cuts our magic number down! Plus the O's have NY and Boston to play through!

This is simple math, not hard to figure out!

Strongly disagree. If TB sweeps, the O's are of no more concern to the royals. The royals would have to let them back in it, making the magic number irrelevant. They are not climbing to WC #1 spot. . It comes down to TB and the tribe.

Edit: O's win = 3 teams to climb over for WC2. TB win = tied w/ O's and two teams to climb over with one being Texas.

Only problem with that is it likely means the Royals are 3 back of the WC with 7 games to play.
