There's just nothing wrong with staying home on New Year's Eve...they call it amateur night for a reason. And you were right, those of us that were here did post more than normal because of it, so props are in order for taking that into consideration. |

So the two sad things are that 1) I took 10 minutes to do a semi-close estimate and 2) still got smoked by Hootie's guess.
(Basically copied 7 pages of the main forum into a spreadsheet, tallied the posts in those threads, omitting some of the old ones that had been bumped and added 90% of that total to the amount in DaFace's beginning count). Thanks for the consolation prize, DaFace. |

Man, Pioli and Co have really jump started this year in terms of post count! We're currently at about 75% more posts for the year than we were at this point last year. Here's a nifty graph for the math geeks out there.
http://img25.imageshack.us/img25/8360/posts.png |
So what happened in September-October of last year? Was it DC traffic? That slope was steeper than any other regular season on record.
If you look carefully, you can see the draft every year after 2002. |
The slope during the season in 2002 was almost the same as the slope of the season in 2003. The big difference between 2002 and 2003 was that the slope during off season in 2003 was nearly equal to the slope during the season. 2003 was the first year that CP became a year around board in a big way.
If the slope that we saw last season holds, we've entered a new era of Chiefs planet. |

Hey DaFace, what happened to the stats that used to be on the forum index page?

Oh, if it was causing freeze ups then **** it, it wasn't that important.

Since it's the offseason, though, I'll open it back up - just for you. It'll probably get closed or moved again once the season comes back around. |

I'm not sure what's changed, but this place is rockin' compared to last year. Here's the latest graph:
http://img19.imageshack.us/img19/1144/stats0418.png At the end of Q1, we had 284,290 posts, which puts us on a pace of over 1.1 million posts for the year. Of course, we'll probably slow down a bit in the summer and speed up a bit in the fall, but overall it seems clear that this offseason isn't near as slow as previous years around here. We're currently (as of April 18) at 334,989 posts, which is a whopping 36% increase over our previous best-year at this point of 2007. |
Its probably DCS
|
it's because my xbox broke
|
Also, here's a graph showing the number of users who log in on an average day:
http://img56.imageshack.us/img56/5578/users0418l.png It's a bit deceiving since people don't have to log in to lurk, but it's interesting nonetheless. Basically, we've got about the same number of people logging in as in 2007, but people are posting more. I agree - I blame DCS. |

Can you do an April to April Graph for all the years?

http://img8.imageshack.us/img8/2238/trendsapr.png You can definitely see a change in slope last season that seems to have carried into the offseason. In fact, our 2008 Sep-Dec average is actually lower than our 2009 Jan-Apr average. This place is actually slightly busier NOW than it was during the season. :spock: |
Update:
http://img132.imageshack.us/img132/7494/maystats.png Still on about the same pace as earlier (1.1m for the year), though the gap between this and previous years is actually widening. We're now up about 63% over last year and 38% over 2007. Basically, the summer slump isn't quite as large this year compared to the past. To give you an idea of how much of a difference there is, we averaged 2500 or so posts per day in May 2009 compared to about 1600 per day in May 2008. WTF has changed? |
I am doing my part

The thread about me spiked the posts count.

The only thing I can think is that we kind of jump started the offseason with that, and people have stuck around for all of the other dumbassery. In the past, people got bored in February and March, poked their heads in in April for the draft, and then ran away for the rest of the offseason. This year, people have basically stuck around the whole time. |

There is absolutley no way that 1/4 members are women. I can count the women whom post here on my hands.
|
22% are teenagers. LMAO I don't believe that. I think it's a product of the language that's used on this site.
|
Here's a new trivia question:
How many users have been banned on ChiefsPlanet? Closest to the number without going over wins $10k casino cash. |
