Add Wiggins and this becomes Bill's best incoming class, if it isn't already.

In 14-15 I expect to be favored to win it all. With Wiggins we just might win it this year.

Would've been a top 5 pick too. He thinks he needs to improve on his game and grow up from what I've read. I wish they all could be mature like him and realize leaving a year early or staying could be the difference between a 4 year career (like most OADs have, making it rain in the D league or on the bench) or a long, tenured career.

With Smart returning...I think you have to bump OSU towards the top of the B12. Everyone else is will be down next season.

Marcus Smart returning seriously makes no sense at all. That's a ton of money he's giving up considering he's basically a guaranteed top 5 pick in this draft. But whatever, KU's going to have their biggest threat to their B12 title in years from OSU now. Should make it a fun year to see if they can do it.

As Bilas was saying, the NBA isn't patient with these kids. They expect quick results. That's why a lot of these guys "disappear" as he said after a couple years. If money, a quick retirement and a shorter career than Vanilla Ice is the plan then go. He compared it to some people that win the lottery then are broke a year or so later.

You would think if Smart is returning, the other two guys are too... They must think they can make a long run, and theres a pretty good chance that for once Kansas wont be picked to win the Big12.. even though they will still be the other favorite.

But it will be good for the Big12 to have a power team... other than OSU now everyone elses team will be mostly unknown and probably a few surprises... but early looks like a real down year.

The Nike Hoops Summit was tonight, Embiid and Wiggins were on the same team. In that tweet he's pretty much saying come to KU, Andrew.

Lovin these kids already. I'm a KU fan and everything but I can't think of another school (football or bball) where there seems to be so much love for the program by the players than KU.

Even the guys who haven't even set foot on the court seem to be #FOE.

If Wiggins joins that's great. But with him or without him we're gonna have a hell of a team next year...

Julius Randle was the 3rd PF to sign in this years class for Kentucky (and fourth big). I don't think it'll be that much of a factor, to be honest.

Hunter Mickelson is transferring from Arkansas to KU.

Should be eligible in 2014-2015.

KU is also courting Tarik Black from Memphis who recently graduated is eligible to play right away.

Mickelson is a big white guy that blocks shots. Always useful to have one of those as we have learned.

He also did okay in a perimeter oriented offense.

I like a center who comes off the bench to be a defensive presence and rebound.

This says a lot about what Self thinks of Landen and Traylor.

Yeah, it has nothing to do with them. This guy provides a potential major defensive presence that they can't, though.

Yeah, top college coaches in every sport never try to continue to bring in talent or experience. They basically get the guys they recruit and then stop trying to bring in guys.

The best part is that Mickelson would sit for a year and practice. He would also have a straight year with Hudy to get into KU shape.

By the time he hits Naismith court, he shouldn't even resemble the kid he was as a freshman at Arkansas.

Outside of Okafor, KU doesn't have a lot of play with the bigs in the 2014 class. Mickelson is an insurance chip. We have 13 schollies to use, it doesn't help just sitting on 3 like that.

Now, KU has another transfer target that is a good possibility on top of Mickelson. Trevor Lacey who Self wanted badly back in 2011 is transfering from Alabama. The kid is reportedly wanting to come to KU by a number of sources.

Add Black from Memphis and that would be quite a transfer haul in one offseason. Black would be able to play immediately - Mickelson\Lacey would have to sit out a year and then both have 2 to play for KU. Pure speculation, but it's nice to have options when you have multiple schollies in the pocket.

I think he's more concerned about Ellis and Embiid being gone in two years.

I think it's good. Give the kid a year and half of Hudy, plus a year of practice and he'll make a solid contribution.

I'd say have him workout with the volleyball team, too. :thumb:

This may have something to do with Embiid's rapid rise in the rankings. Self could be preparing for a surprise one-and-done situation.
