Mmmmm hmmmmm. I had known that this was going to be set in WWI and I was wondering if/hoping that they'd do a WWII sequel for her. It seemed unlikely to me because it would almost be a second origin story for her and they have to start crossing over each other's stories to build Justice League. But now I am hearing that the director (Patty Jenkins) has said that she'd like to make a 'Coming To America" movie for her. That would be cool. This movie (to me) is the best thing DC has going right now. Superman is blah because he's Superman-boring. Batman can be great with the right talent on both sides of the lens so that's a wait an see if Batffleck can deliver. Aquaman looks like it might be something. The actor comes across as badass who only barely controls is animalistic urges to plow through large groups of people who are in his way.

I don't know off the top of my head what the schedules and release dates are for JLA movies. Can they work in a WWII WW2 movie? I'd be fine if it wasn't part of the lead into JLA. If it was done to add hype to an otherwise slow spot in the movie collection, that would be fine. Again this depends on how well Battffleck can be pulled off but WW looks like the star of the show, with Batffleck and Aquaman as the next tier, Superman still hanging out there in the third tier because he's a shitty character, then all the minor players that they might want to bring in after them.

One thing: I didn't (couldn't ) pay enough attention to the other movies to authoritatively say what the timeline is for the three mains (WW, BM,SM) to be able to meet up. We have WW showing up kicking ass at the end of WWI. I assume that SM showed up somewhat recently for the first of the new films. Batffleck is already old when he's trying to build the JLA. Would it be reasonable to assume that we are watching them team up 'in the present' for the first time and that anything before that is back story to the JLA? If so...we should get a WWII version of WW. Or even a movie that extends into the Cold War and takes us to the War On Terror.

Matt Reeves will be directing the Batman standalone with Affleck so I'm excited for that too

You're asking a lot of questions, many of which can't be answered at this time.

Here's the current time line, as I understand it:

Man of Steel, Batman vs. Superman, Wonder Woman, Dawn of Justice (Nov. 2017), Aquaman, The Flash, Cyborg movie, Black Adam, Shazam, Green Lantern.

Whether you like the movies or not, the correct viewing order is Man of Steel, Batman vs. Superman (The Ultimate Edition) and Wonder Woman. In Man of Steel, we see Wayne Enterprises, Lex Corp and an allusion to Aqua Man (Superman's rescue off the oil rig and after destroying the World Engine).

Lex Luthor has a picture of Wonder Woman taken during WWI, the same picture that was taken while she, Steve Trevor, Chief, Charlie and Samir were just outside of Veld. The only sequence in Wonder Woman that was in Present Day was the delivery of said original picture and the ending, where she closed the brief case.

As for the Wonder Woman sequel, Patty Jenkins has already begun writing the script and from my understanding, World War II as well as the Present Day will be more evenly balanced. World War II is another part of Diana's journey.

We've already seen terrorism in Batman vs. Superman (in the desert and in the courtroom) so I would doubt they take on present day terrorism as it exists in the real world.

Here's what Reeves said recently about his take on Batman.

--

One of the reasons I was drawn to it is I had a similar fascination to Batman when I was younger that I had with the Apes series, which I was obsessed with. I see a parallel emotionally between Caesar and Batman, in that they’re both characters who are tortured and trying to sort of grapple within themselves to find the way to do the right thing in a very imperfect and, to some degree, corrupt world. It’s really that emotionality that I’m interested in.

In all of my films, what I try to do, in an almost Hitchcockian sense, is use the camera and use the storytelling so that you become the character, and you emphasize with that point of view. I think there’s a chance to do an almost noir-driven, detective version of Batman that is point-of-view driven in a very, very powerful way, that hopefully is going to connect you to what’s going on inside of his head and inside of his heart.”

I've never seen any of his work, so I have no idea what to expect.

I tried to watch the first Apes movie but after about 10 minutes in, I just couldn't connect with it.

Don't think he directed the 1st movie only 2nd and 3rd. But hard to jump on the series if the 1st didn't catch your attn

I really enjoyed the first one, and I was a sucker for the original series of films when I was a kid. Didn't enjoy the second one as much. I had a hard time getting into it as well.

I thought that it was intimated that someone rescued Clark after he was floating in the water after the oil rig explosion and that he was "waving" to someone as we see him on shore after destroying the world engine.

In both cases, I was left feeling that it was Auqa Man that saved him.

To hell with that. The only way he got in her knickers was to get her away from the other gals who taught her the male parts aren't necessary.

That was probably the funniest part of the movie.

"NO! No."

Nickhead 07-01-2017 11:57 PM

aside from her never being dirty, other than in my mind, a couple cheesie moments, but she is bad-ass.

albeit she is so bad ass that it makes no sense for her to take on someone as silly as the joker, so to speak.

batman is definitely the weakest link in this whole saga. :D

I've been so sick of SJW/intersex/Dog$3it Marvel comix I'm ready to move on. That product is beyond repair.

And I've been a longtime DC hater but everyone I've talked to pretty much said "It was Cap'Murica but better."

I plan to take the wife this upcoming weekend.

Good for you... hopefully you enjoy it. As for Marvel...are you tired of the comics or Movies? Alot of complaints about their comics including the cost. I still read comics including marvel.

outstanding news. Warner Bros isn't wasting any time so thats good

unlurking 08-13-2017 07:54 AM

Finally got to see this. I don't know if it was all the hype that raised my expectations too high, but I was pretty disappointed. Looks like I'm in the minority though.

Gadot performed better than I expected. The accent was a little jarring, but got used to it. Until the end and she did that monologue. That was annoying, although more for the fact that I didn't care for the monologue. The accent just made it more annoying. I was originally one of those against her casting, but after seeing her I'm OK with it. I think someone like Carino would have fit better visually, but Gadot is a much better actress than I was expecting.

I was actually enjoying it up until the end. It felt a lot like a middle of the road Marvel film. I think my issue started with the motorcycle. It totally pulled me out of the movie. Seriously, I immediately thought, "JFC I don't need to see Captain Kirk on another god damned motorcycle!!!" Probably a personal issue, but it really triggered with me. I have a hard enough time focusing on a movie / tv show as it is.

At least that ended quickly enough, but then the final combat scene started. I felt like I was watching a Kung Fury sequel. The effects were absolutely the worst I have seen outside of a SyFy channel movie. This was a shame, because the rest of the movie was really pretty enjoyable. Not great, but definitely worth watching up until that.

dmahurin 08-14-2017 11:28 AM

I was kind of underwhelmed with it. Seemed less wonder woman, more generic action movie with a super hero in it.

CarrotCake 08-15-2017 08:16 AM

My wife is jealous of Wonder Woman, because I just liked the film and effects

I have more than 300 DVD's and BluRay's and man, I wish everything was on VUDU. I might upload them one of these days because it's only $2 dollar per but the convenience factor is huge.

We can watch on all of our Roku equipped TV's and mobile devices. The great thing is that VUDU also allows you to download to your iPad or device, which is awesome, so my kids can load up movies for road trips and overnights without losing the DVD.

Plus, I really like ordering the movies early.

I have 2000+ Blu-Ray, DVD, HD-DVD, and Laserdiscs. We're slowly getting them on Vudu with the Disc to Digital feature they have - $2 for Blu-Ray, $5 for standard DVD. Have about 170 in Vudu now. Every time we go to watch a movie we have on DVD, we try to add it to Vudu.

The key, we've found, is to look for deals. Like today, they had all the Terminator movies for $5. I only cared about 1 and 2, and both of those are standard DVDs for me. So there's no cost benefit to doing Disc to Digital vs. just buying them from Vudu. And since Vudu will only let you do 100 Disc to Digital upgrades, it makes sense to just buy them.
