The Twins have an early 2-0 lead on the Indians. Bottom of the 4th inning.

If this holds up, we're 2 back of first and a game and a half out of 2nd.

Thought maybe Greinke in 2009 but he didn't get his 11th win until August. David Cone did it in 1994.

Thanks!

May not be exactly what you were looking for, but using the Baseball Reference Play Index I came up with the results for Royals pitchers who had 11+ wins through the first half of the season (not always exactly the All-Star break):

https://s12.postimg.org/6telff7t9/Sc...4.04.23_PM.png

I'm still familiarizing myself with the Play Index, but I think I got this one right. There could be a "before All-Star break" criteria somewhere in there that I am just missing.

Interesting numbers. Look at those complete games!

penbrook 06-24-2017 03:32 PM

Per Joel Goldberg

Jason Vargas leads MLB w/11 wins. 1st Royal to win 6 straight starts since Greinke in '09. David Cone only Royal w/more W's before break

carlos3652 06-24-2017 03:33 PM

That was Vargas 15th game this season, so he has a shot at being one of the best through 18 if he keeps it up (w/l ratio and era)

He's got 2 more starts before the break

Prison Bitch 06-24-2017 04:08 PM

I just got a PM from KCConnection - he wasn't able to see either game since he's traveling this weekend to see his stepsister's newphew twice removed celebrating his Bar Mitzvah

Posts for days in the NBA draft thread.

Hasn't shown his face during a Jays vs Royals weekend.

The Canadian pussy stereotype holds.

He's a pure troll on baseball. If the Jays win Sunday he'll show up to say the Jays are terrible and the fact the Royals couldn't sweep them proves the Royals aren't winning jack this year.

Man this thread is awesome. I wonder who made it?

Minnesota wins 4-2. The top of the American League Central Division is suddenly very close.

We have 5 weeks til the trade deadline. If we are in this situation or better I can't see selling. I'd say anything within 3-5 games of the division dictates making a run at it. The Twins and Tribe both have been insane on the road while losing their ass at home. I don't think that carries out the rest of the season.

I'll make a call right now..don't be shocked if at the end of July this division is being fought for by KC and Detroit.

Yeah but I think they are going to make a run, I do. They are too good of a team. Then again.....they probably won't be close but I won't be surpirsed if they are.

Nonetheless, I think The Tribe and Twins will both regress from their road domination.

Coach 06-24-2017 09:06 PM

7.5 out of 1st by Memorial Day.

Now, 2 games behind.

Yeah, this team ain't selling shit.

Royals could actually run away with the division.

Cleveland is a really, really good team. Far more complete than any rival we had in the Central in 2015. It's possible their starting pitchers stay shaky, but I would be surprised if they didn't have a couple of hot streaks in them this year.

This team was around 7.5 back at the end of July a couple years ago, and ended up in the World Series. 2 or 3 games back is literally nothing when you have 100 games to go.

suzzer99 06-25-2017 02:43 AM

Didn't we come back from an 8-game deficit twice in 2014?

I believe it was a 7 game deficit twice.

Bufkin 06-25-2017 09:21 AM

I don't care if we win out from now until the All-Star break, we need to sell. No way does Jason Vargas, a career number 4 starter, keep pitching like he's Greg Maddox. See Ubaldo Jimenez. Between Hosmer, Moustakas, and Cain, 2 of the 3 are almost guaranteed to be gone, so to keep them for 80 games in an attempt to push past 500 instead of getting key prospects for a depleted farm system rubs me the wrong way. And for that matter, trade Herrera for peanuts and trade Vargas while he's red hot.

I love winning now. It's an addiction. But I love long term success even more.

This team isn't the 2014 team. Not even close.

Teams aren't coughing up as much as you might think for rentals these days. You are still going to get comp picks so it isn't like you are left empty handed.

We don't have the bullpen but we have a solid lineup at the plate with the exception of Moss.

dlphg9 06-25-2017 12:24 PM

Hammel has been pitching awesome lately. If all he needed was a slight adjustment then this signing is huge. Hopefully he keeps this up.
