Succession: Power drama. Amazing characters. Dark humor. Three seasons. Almost every person is despicable. Billionaire media mogul Family "eats itself" and many others in the process of determining who will run the business when the patriarch retires or dies. Barry: Dark humor. a few seasons. (3 or 4 or 5?) Hitman Barry moves to LA to work but starts taking classes to become an actor. The White Lotus: One season is its own storyline. Season 1 takes place in Hawaii at a 5 star hotel resort. Various character sets / storylines, basically a peek into the dysfunction of the lives of rich people. It's funny, kooky, dramatic. Really good. Watch the trailers and pick one. Obviously White Lotus and Severance are fewer episodes, so easier to complete than Succession or Barry. TLOU you can just start watching. |

Was that Worlds of Fun I just saw in episode 4?
Edit: Maybe I should I watch the whole episode for that answer haha. |
Lots of KC in tonight’s episode.
Pretty cool. |

So cool seeing the kc skyline pop up tonight |

Damn episode 4 was amazing but feels like half as long as it should have been. I feel that we spent too long on ep 3 side plot and cut some off this one.
|
should be noted episode 5 is being released on Friday night, because of the Super Bowl next Sunday
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Episode 5 of ‘THE LAST OF US’ will air early this Friday on HBO instead due to the <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/SuperBowl?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#SuperBowl</a>. <br><br>Read our review: <a href="https://t.co/qrdlPbWHYw">https://t.co/qrdlPbWHYw</a> <a href="https://t.co/1IaCyS40Ry">pic.twitter.com/1IaCyS40Ry</a></p>— DiscussingFilm (@DiscussingFilm) <a href="https://twitter.com/DiscussingFilm/status/1622418644805328898?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">February 6, 2023</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> |
Good character building episode. A lot of Kansas City shots, pretty damn cool. Can't wait for ep 5 Friday
|
Episode 4 was easily the best one so far.
|
Damn this show is really good.
|
Easily my favorite episode yet. This episode is what the game/story was all about. Joel and Ellie's character development, and the real threat (people).
|
guessing one of the creators likes Arby's too, second episode with a notable appearance. Where's the Taco Bell fan?

My daughter and I finished episode 3. Excellent episode.
I have a PS3 and the game sitting in a box. Brother and nephews gave it to me, never played it. Will it ruin the show if do? |
I should also ask, will the show ruin the game?
|
I wouldn't expect fidelity between game and show, or between books and shows. They'll tell a similar story for sure, but they're being told by different authors/directors/etc.

I’d rather the game ruin the show than vice versa though. You can burn through the game in a weekend on rookie mode if you wanted. Or watch one of the condensed recaps however that would probably be the worst route. |

Oberyn Martell and Lyanna Mormont team up as the stoic middle-aged tough guy and the weird looking cutesy sidekick on traveling (mis)adventures together?

Thanks guys. It’s been sitting there for years. I’m a PC and retro guy so thanks for the advice.
They are finally releasing the original on PC for 60, but I want my kids to play through too. |
Kansas City nothing but a bunch of savages.
|
I’m guessing that’s infected below that wreckage or whatever the head chick was being shown?

Oh, nevermind, teaser trailer for the next episode blatantly spoils what it is.
|
First episode where the bond between Joel and Ellie really started to feel more true to the game version. The shitty jokes and puns were ripped straight out of the game and I'm pretty sure even the book cover was made to look like the one from the games.
|
How this series follows the game so well, yet deviates from it is INCREDIBLE! I am seriously loving this so far! :thumb: They are pulling this off very well so far!
|
I really think they are doing a fantastic job. I love this show

Pretty trippy to see shots of 435 and Worlds of Fun and downtown all CGI'd to dystopian ruin.

The Mario Kart Parody they did on SNL of this show is actually pretty funny. Especially considering it's SNL and all.

I've never been to KC so I was telling my girlfriend I wished they passed through Orlando so I could be familiar with some of the ruins lol |
That KC Metro bus on the side of the road was a nice attention to detail

I thought that this episode started out very interestingly. I like to see shows about how they deal with an apocalypse. That being said, I definitely could have done without the gay stuff, though. Had to skip through all of that. I really don't even care that it was two men who grew to love each other. Just don't need to see graphic stuff like that. :Lin: But, of course, Hollywood these days seems to like to insert that everywhere. That won't keep me from watching, though. So far, it's a good show. |

I love Succession a lot - it's so well done, from start to finish (or where it has left off so far). But.... Barry is a jaw dropper. It's funny as hell, but Jesus, it takes turns that make your jaw drop to the floor. Quite like certain scenes/moments in Breaking Bad did for me. You can't go wrong with either choice, but I'd say Barry is more impactful. |

Both kids have been playing the game, and they both say it's more movie than game.
As I watch them I don't disagree about 1.5 hours in. Maybe it will pick up, but it's not very interactive. |

Question regarding episode 4...

Really well done, continues to impress.

It was neat and all to see a deaf character for an episode, but they literally speed ran almost every single aspect that would ultimately piss off most deaf viewers for not representing them properly, instead framing a deaf person through a hearing person's perspective for pity points.
|
I do enjoy the twist they put on the show, even having played the game you know the direction the characters are going but you’re not sure exactly which path they take to get there. I enjoyed the final scene a lot.
|
Well one things for sure, it would definitely take an apocalypse for me to eat Chef Boyardee Ravioli and enjoy it.
|
Joel needs to know by now, after all he's been through, to be checking people's bodies after those types of encounters for bites or really any other type of open wound. Just plain foolish to not be doing that at this point.
|
That whole street section was incredibly well done, from the sniper and on. Much more intense than the game equivalent when the infected get involved
|
Such a great ****ing episode.
|
Never played the game, but this show has been quite good (particularly E3 and tonight's E5). There are some major parallels in the narrative with one of my favorite movies, Children of Men. It's sort of a mix of that with TWD.
|
E3 was beautiful television... dare i say i even shed a tear
E4 was a pretty harsh fall back to reality. found i honestly struggled to finish it hoping E5 lives up to the hype you guys are giving it. |
I’ll say those jamokes were a lot braver than I am. I 100% would have gotten in one of those trucks and hauled ass out of there after they all poured out of that hole.

That episode was phenomenal. Even knowing what was going to happen based on the game, I was still on the edge of my seat.
The ****ing bloater was terrifying. |
Nice homage to the game death when a bloater grabs you.
|
Oh, and for those of you with a PS5, the remake in on sale this week. 25% off. Still pretty pricey for a game unless you haven't played it yet, but it's legit remade from the ground up with improvements to the AI so the gameplay actually changed too.
|
Probably the second best episode since the premiere.
Great storytelling and entertainment, sort of a lost art these days in Hollywood. I hope this spawns a new genre of video games turning into shows/movies. There are a lot of great games with great stories. |
