Looks like I missed a nice little storm this morning! Was in a nyquil haze from a delightful summer cold
|
Coming back from Leavenworth this morning almost a half mile power poles down on south 7. After drove thru the rain coming in sideways.

Mid 80's in the Bay Area all week with a cool breeze. No humidity. I can handle that.

I just golfed 18 in 102 degrees. Still alive, barely.

One of buddies at work, who is planning on moving to Mesa and becoming a cop, relayed something he heard from his contact in the Mesa PD - that's it's been so ****ing hot in Arizona for so long, that people who are outside that fall down on the sidewalk can actually severely burn themselves by coming into contact with the concrete.

It was bad. EDIT: to answer your question I’m in Scott City. |
On the way to Michigan to see my son. Spending the night in Le Claire, Iowa. Just got a weather alert: thunderstorms with 80 mph winds, 3/4 inch hail, expected heavy damage to roof tops, trees, cars, and anything in its path. Staying at an Airbnb, in a second story apartment with my wife and dog. She, not the dog the wife, asks, what do we do? Ride it out, I say. Parked the car away from any large trees and hoping for the best. Shit is starting to fly.

The younger son and I set out on a motorcycle trip from Lees Summit to Quincy, IL (just a hotel!!!), we decided to end it because when we got to Lexington, MO we knew were weren't going to outrun the storms. Not only not outrun them, but they'd stay on top of us like a balloon on a string. I'm hardly afraid of rain, but driving rain and 70mph winds aren't fun. We'll do that trip some other time.

110* in AZ and crazy storms in the mid west seem not so fun.
Guess I'll take an earthquake every decade here in the Bay Area for great year long weather over severe weather other areas face. |
It's raining sideways just to the north of 152 highway near Zona Rosa
|
Just lost power South Olathe
|
Just rained its ass off and we got quite the lightening show.
Cool as all get out... |

I’m waiting on that system that moved through KC to get to the Joplin area in a short matter of time (and here is the wind picking up now as I’m typing). Phone blew up with a NWS announcement advising 80mph winds were on the way.

That Cali weather is getting to me! 65* tonight with no humidity. It really skews my perception of weather when I travel. Another perfect weather day for humans tmrw and I have deal with that shit.
|
Had some serious wind in JoMo last night.
|
Lost power for 2-3 hours last night and lightning or wind took 3-4 huge limbs down in the front yard. Just lucky they didn't hit the house.

Oh fun, a hurricane is about to hit LA this weekend.
If it stays official hurricane speed, it will be the first time since 1858 I'm not sure LA is ready for 80mph winds.
