5 losses, 4 of them in the #1 conference in the RPI.

Quite a few quality wins, 0 bad losses.

I think KSU is a 1 seed. After KU, UK and Syracuse who else you gonna put in there? Purdue? Hell no. Duke. No freaking way. KSU is the choice IMO.

Ohio St.

They may enter the conversation based on Evan Turner not being healthy earlier in the year, but that is kind of stupid. Their RPI is not as good as Duke or KSU nor is their overall record, plus they play in a weaker conference than both.

They are up there with KSU and Duke, at least when it comes to the eye test, but they don't have the resume numbers. 7 losses is a lot for a #1 seed.

I didn't realize their RPI was so poor (as their efficiency stats are as good as any team), but they are still an option for it. It all comes down to the conference tournaments, though.

Syracuse
Kansas
Kentucky
----
Duke
KSU
Ohio State
----
Villanova
Purdue
West Virginia
Michigan State
New Mexico

The way the talent looks right now, its pretty important to stay as one of the top 2 #1 seeds. One team in the 2nd tier will get bumped up into a #1, leaving only 2 teams from the 2nd tier as #2 seeds. Syracuse and Kansas would end up with an injured Purdue, a struggling Villanova, 7-loss Mich State, flawed WVU, or even New Mexico as their #2.

I usually agree w/ Linardi, but I think he's smokin' crack right now if he thinks K-State is a #1 seed as now. For them to get a #1, they pretty much have to win out.

I don't see how Villanova isn't in the discussion. Like K-State, they get to play a Top 2 team in the country twice. They really have no bad losses, and they play in arguably the #1 conference in America. They've beat Maryland, Georgetown, West Virginia, and if they beat West Virginia in their finale and go to the conference final in the Big East I would put them as the #1 seed.

KC_Connection 03-04-2010 03:14 PM

I think West Virginia can beat anybody in the NCAA when they are right.

CoMoChief 03-04-2010 03:14 PM

SHit put TEN in there. Theyre they only team to beat #1 and #2 team this season.

When are they ever "right"? I think they are the most overrated bball I've seen this season.

When they beat A&M on a neutral court, beat Ohio St, and lost to Syracuse by one point.

They are 12-5 in the Big East (and have a chance at 2nd place in the conference if they beat Villanova), so they have to be doing something right, no?

This. I wouldn't want to play them in the tourney.

K-State's played a tougher schedule.
